Nick Cassavetes' 'Alpha Dog' - what's the holdup?

Seen trailers for it in the past, thought it was supposed to have been released by now, what happened?

Does it have something to do with the trial of the person that inspired it?

I thought I had heard that it wouldn't be released wide until after the trial ended.

The reason New Line is holding off releasing the film?

Audience reception for it has been nearly total shit. Lots of negative reviews across the board.

Considering the way some New Line films have been treated, I wouldn't be shocked if it went straight to video. However, Nick Cassavetes does have some pull with the studio, so I am sure we'll see it in theaters sooner rather than later.

This movie looks like a teenage Tony Scott film. And when I say Tony Scott I mean "Domino" era nauseating coma-inducing Tony Scott, not the "True Romance" Tony Scott.

Film Jerk reported today that New Line has ditched the film completely and that Universal Pictures has picked it up with a release in late-2006/early-2007.

Not a good sign at all....

Well what do you expect from a film that has Justin Timberlake in it?
