Favorite single scene
Some movies seem to be made solely on the strength of one very good scene (making the rest of the movie filler). Nevertheless, my favorite scene has to be the "stunt double" from "I'm gonna git you sucka." maybe its because the whole movie was kind of meh, making that scene all the more surprising and funnier.
post yours :) |
I like the scene in Punch-Drunk Love after the brothers ram into Barry's car and he sees Lena is bleeding he gets out of the cars and kicks ass.
|
I don't have just one favorite (so I might post again) but this one comes to mind.
The whole tansformation sequence from Murphy to Robocop, from the execution sequence to the part where he first sees himself in the TV monitors as he walks past the crowd of exec-techs. I shed tears in the middle part. |
Probably the scene in <b>Werckmeister Harmóniák</b> where János explains the movement of the planets to the bar full of drunks.

OMG - you beat me to it! For a combination of cinematography, music, plot revelation and star power, this is pure movie magic. |

In Coffy, when Pam Grier blows that drug dealers head off with a shotgun.
In Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original), Leatherface's first appearance!!!! In Dawn of the Dead (original), when Flyboy walks out as a zombie. |
John Boorman's zoom-in/circle pan with Excalibur as it flies into the samite-sheathed arm of the Lady of the Lake (Excalibur).

Oh, and <i>Stand By Me</i>'s "pie-eating contest" scene is one of my favorites. :yack: |

Carpenter's The Thing -
"I don't know what the hell is in there, but it's weird and pissed off, whatever it is." or "Why don't we wait here a little while...see what happens." Then the music kicks in. American Psycho - The Huey Lewis scene The Last Samurai - "They are all perfect" Snatch - "Shut up and sit down you big bald fuck!" Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas - "You took too much, too much" or "White Rabbit, White Rabbit" or The scene when Benicio Del Torro is going ape shit while he is talking to the young girl on the phone. A L I E N - The scene where you see the entire space jockey chamber. On an HDTV it almost looks 3D. or Kane giving birth Near Dark - "Well I'll be God damned...Shit kicker heaven!" Kill Bill Vol. 2 - When the bride is buried alive. Outstanding use of the surround channels. Once Upon A Time In The West - In the beggining when the guy traps the fly in the barrel of his gun, and then he looks straight into the barrel of the gun. I laugh every time. Excalibur - "Come father, let us embrace at last" To Live and Die in L.A. - If you have seen the movie, you know what scene I am talking about. To actually say it would be to spoil it. Exorcist III - The nurse scene. Scarface - When Tony looks up at the blimp. Blade Runner - When the dove flies away. These are some of my favorites, can't think of them all right now. |

The "100-Mile Dash" in The Incredibles. An action sequence that's just as much about character development as it is thrilling cinema? I'm in love!

Re: Favorite single scene
The moment in IT'S A MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD WORLD when the entire star cast suddenly realizes that Captain Culpepper (Spencer Tracy) is not heading back to the police station with the case of money but is heading off on his own and they scramble back into the two cabs to give chase. I leap up in my seat every time I see that.

JAWS
Quint's U.S.S. Indianapolis speech I also like the part where: little Alex Kitner loses a couple legs on a raft. Just a nice wholesome moment for the whole family to enjoy. |
Re: Favorite single scene
Die Hard where John jumps off the building with the water hose. You know your situation is fubar, when that was the best thing to do.
