Spider-Man 3 or Superman Returns?
#4
I'm more looking forward to Superman Returns.
But Spider-Man 3 will more than likely make more money. Part 1 earned over $800 million worldwide and part 2 made over $780 million worldwide. 3 should be no different and I don't think Superman will make that kind of money.

Both films will make huge bank so who cares? Personally, I'm looking forward to Spidey 3 more since I find the character much more interesting than Superman.
The real question is, which will suck more: Ghost Rider or Fantastic Four 2?

Spider-Man 3 for both.

Superman Returns is going to have a tough time making it's money back. It's budget was 185 million and with re-shoots and visual FX, it's going to be a little over 200 million.

No shit. What's up with this match up? They have a year difference as to when they come out. Atleast pit two same summer films against one another. X-men and Superman would be a more sensible match up.

I'd say Spiderman will make more $$$. The other two have been so famous. I will see both but if given a choice of only seeing one, I'd see Superman. I always liked Supes more than Spidey. However, Superman might have an advantage since there haven't been any movies of him in almost 20 years & he is the world's most famous superhero.

I would say Spidey, but who knows with the way people are nixing multiplexes nowadays? A little too early for this kind of question IMO.

* The character of Superman is well-known by practically every human currently alive above the age of five.
* In addition to post-toddlers, 'Tweens, and Teens, the movie will appeal to Gen-Y'ers, Gen-X'ers, and all other iterations of generations up and through the "Baby Boomers". (Talk about your demographics!)
* Even if the movie totally tanks in its initial domestic release, there's still overseas distribution, DVD, HD-DVD, Blu-ray, VOD, PPV, Cable, and TV network cash avenues to make up the shortfall.
* Since the movie is built as a sequel to Superman II, it should breath new life into the viability of all of the Superman catalog titles.
* And all of this is not even considering the merchandising, and the anciliary boost to Superman "comic" books and graphic novels!
In short, this movie is "Bulletproof"!
In answer to the question, I'm looking forward to both of these new films equally ...

I don't see any reason why I should choose one over the other and I don't really give a shit how much each makes. I'm there at midnight opening night for both.
But gun to my head, Superman Returns of course.

Spider-Man 3 will make more money... with a year's worth of inflation, it could potentially have more expensive tickets

For me it's a matter of the villains. I can't wait to see Sandman, but Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor will probably turn out to be incredibly inspired (and my all time favorite villain, Clarence Boddicker, was merely human too).
Right now I'm just leaning toward Spidey. Just. And I have no idea how much they'll make. I don't get paid to worry about that, so...
In a fight, I'm pretty sure Superman would win.
Such a depressing thought. Two of my dearest friends fighting.

With the two Spidey films already in the bag, most people (IMO, that is) would be more interested in seeing a tried and proven sequel to two previous great movies. This question would have become much more of a debate if Spidey 1 was getting released at the same time as Superman 1. I then would probably say Superman would be my better choice, but that is because I loved the other 3 Superman movies. (there is no 4th movie, just a really long commercial for anti-war purposes) Now though, the Spiderman character is so well developed (and with Venom being one of the bad guys) I can't help but look forward to Spidey 3 more. Now, what is going to be interesting, is when Superman 2 and Spidey 4 come out around the same time. Then there will be a debate....
