January actually has a rep. as a dumping ground for films in which the studios have little confidence.

I just found out the other night that this is based on a short comic series of the same name. I saw it in Borders and looked at it to confirm it was indeed the inspiration. The cover is the same as the pic in the first post.

Dunno if I saw the same thing -- Borders had a TPB (Dark Horse release I think) -- that looked like it was based on the movie, rather than the other way around. There was an intro from the director, etc. Then again, it may just have been a reprint to coincide or draw interest.

I checked wikipedia but found nothing about a comic book. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pathfinder_%28film%29

Ooo. I like that cover. Is the artwork inside like that?

I think the TPB is just an adaptation of the movie script. Here is a preview (click next page at the top for more artwork):

Thanks. The artwork inside is lovely. I may actually pick this up. The question is if I'd read it before or after seeing the movie.

Not that anybody cares at this point, but I was thinking we might go see Pathfinder this coming weekend, because it had been scheduled to come out January 19th > pushed from September 2006 > pushed from July 2006... but now it appears to have been pushed to APRIL 2007.

I was JUST wondering about this with all that 300 hype... but now April? Shit! Though that might be better (or worse) depending on how 300 does.

Bumping since the release seems to really be happening soon (4/13/07). This one was off my radar until I saw a preview for it before 300. Looks potentially good. Although now that I've read this thread, I'm concerned about why exactly it's been pushed back so much.

I'm not sensing good things since they aren't screening the film. How could you mess up an indians-fighting-vikings movie?

I liked this better when it was called Conan the Barbarian.

I first saw the trailer for this before Clerks II, which was last summer.

Amazing how films can get delayed so much.

I thought this was either a USA Network/Sci-fi Channel knock of Conan the Barbarian, or a Bud Light commercial.

Where's Jack Black when you need him?

I have a feeling this will end up like "The 13th Warrior". A great action/adventure flick that gets bad reviews from all over so it gets ignored.

Well, I'm going to see it this weekend with my son unless some very bad reviews start coming out.
