FIND ME GUILTY - another Lumet classic?
I love a good courtroom thriller just like the next guy, and Sidney Lumet has made a couple of the best - THE VERDICT and 12 ANGRY MEN.
Thus, I'm really jacked up after seeing the trailer for FIND ME GUILTY. It looks like vintage Lumet: think NETWORK and DOG DAY AFTERNOON. This one looks to be right up there, if not better. Leave it to Lumet to come up with another gritty and realistic portrait of our criminal justice system. The movie also kind of reminds me of the great Judd Nelson movie FROM THE HIP, which still ranks as one of the wittiest courtroom thrillers ever.
At first I thought that was Robert DeNiro in the trailer and I told a friend, "Wow, DeNiro has finally decided to give a meaty performance after all these years. This looks like his best work in ages." Imagine my surprise when I learned that it was Vin Diesel! When did this guy become such a great actor, such a chameleon? Just from the trailers, he looks like a lock for an Oscar nomination.
So, where's all the buzz for this film?

Hadn't heard about it until now... the studio should probably hire a shill or two to run around the internet generating buzz or something. Maybe they could say that Vin Diesel is as good an actor as Robert DeNiro.
Seriously though - I checked out the trailer and it doesn't look half bad... I'll catch it on cable though rather than waste 9 bucks on a ticket.

I've been looking forward to this one ever since they showed a clip of it at last years oscars for the award Lument won.

I'm not thinking any film with Vin Diesel in it could be called a "classic." That's just my opinion though...
