Overnight (2003) - The Documentary
I couldn't find an actual thread about this documentary, it was mentioned in a few diverse threads though.
I finally got a chance to see this tonight (thank you DVD Talk for the recommendation). Boondock Saints is one of my top guilty pleasure movies and it was a real eye opener to see the insane (dare I say) genius behind it.
I'm curious about a few things though. For those of you who may have more info about the whole story, maybe you can answer a few questions. What was the reason for Harvey Weinstein initially backing out of the deal? I know Troy Duffy is a major prick and assclown but that could be said about half of Hollywood. I feel like the doc left some things out. Duffy didn't seem to get really bad until after he was snubbed, but it never explains the reason for the initial snubbing. It seemed like Weinstein thought he was the second coming and loved everything about Duffy (even saying he would buy the bar for him) and then "poof'... nothing. The doc never explained what caused the split. Just Duffy's insane ranting about Weinstein being afraid and jealous of him.
Anyone know? Anyway, great documentary, I recommend it for anyone interested in the inner workings of the film industry or a prime example of an egomaniac set on self destruction.
BTW, I wish they had played some of his band's (the Brood) music. From just the footage of them messing around it looked fairly cool.
