Anyone watch Ebert and Roeper?
Hi All,
Sorry about this goofy question but about 3 or 4 months ago, Ebert and Roeper were reviewing new dvd releases and both recommended a film noir stye film that they both said had snuck in under the radar. I made a note to look for the disc but now I can't find the note. Any idea what film they might have been talking about?
Thanks
Ken

The only film noir dvd I remember from their recent shows was Blood and Wine. I'm not sure if they both recommended it or not since the only recent dvd segment I can remember them both going on & on & on about was Bubble.
Like NatrlBornThrllr said, I think you can browse their Thumbs Up Video section from each show.

IF it was the thumbs up video pick, doesn't sound like they were talking about either The Ice Harvest or Kiss Kiss Bang Bang... but regardless of if they were, BOTH are well worth checking out (especially KISS KISS when it hits disc in....MAY). I watch E&R weekly, but can't directly recall what they may have been talking about...

Space Monkey! You're the man, er monkey. Blood and Wine was the movie I was looking for. I spent all day flogging at their site yesterday and couldn't find it. Thanks all for the other suggestions. I'll bet Ice Harvest and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang are movies that I would like very much also.
Thanks again,
Ken

They were talking about the film Where the Truth Lies with Kevin Bacon and Colin Firth, which was just released on DVD last week. That, I believe, is the film Ebert was recommending that you are thinking about. I haven't seen it, but it looks intriguing.

IIRC, it was a Fox Studio Classics title called Leave Her to Heaven.
The movie stars Gene Tierney and Cornel Wilde. Here is a quick synopsis:
Writer Richard Harland unhesitatingly marries lovely Ellen Berent. He soon finds his life blighted when tragedies take first his brother then his unborn son from him. He comes to suspect these events are not unconnected with his wife's unreasoning jealousy. This also turns her family from her, and yet another shock awaits them all as Ellen's emotions become uncontrollable.
