I'm not a hip-hop fan, so some of the music didn't appeal to me, though Chappelle was very entertaining in how he put together this concert, literally bringing in people that would never have otherwise set foot in such a venue, but doing so just to bring people together through humor and music, and the bonus was how director Michel Gondry weaved the backstories of the performers, the people and the actual concert into something better than the sum of the parts.

I give it 2.75 stars, or a grade of B-.

Saw it today and, I must say, I REALLY enjoyed it. I guess it helps that I'm a fan of the bands and singers in the film. Chappelle was, as usual, fantastic. I also thought that the editing and the pace of the film was just about perfect.

I remember thinking of the music documentary "Wattstax" with Richard Pryor. For me, it's like this generation's version of that film --- though not as politically charged.

All in all, I had a great time and can't wait for the dvd and cd...

I saw it today and thought it was great. There was alot of people in the theater for a tuesday afternoon. People were singing out and nodding their heads. We had a great time. I was never bored, and wished it could've gone on longer. I give it a solid "A", great music from quality rappers & musicans, and Dave's comedy.
