Thought I'd use this topic to ask a question.

I was thinking of showing Babel to a few of my folks (Haven't seen the movie yet myself, either) but in the good ol' rating explanation, it says it's got "violence, some graphic nudity, sexual content, language and some drug use."

Graphic nudity?

We saw Wee Man's wee-wee and both of Dunn and Preston's nutsacks in Jackass 2 and that was only labeld with "nudity". So uhh, what is graphic nudity supposed to look like?

JPRaup 03-05-07 07:39 PM

masturbation?

Wow. Thought it meant that the camera would've journeyed up someone's bunghole or something. MTV style.

I stumbled across this thread after recently watching "This film is not yet rated". I highly recommend it for those of you posting in this thread who have not seen it yet. What a joke the MPAA is.

A new one, from the back of the Contact/Sphere double-feature:

Sphere
"Rated PG-13 for "science fiction involving some startling images."

I know that when I am a responsible parent I won't want my pre-teens corrupted by "science fiction."

Also, Ice Age gets a PG for "mild peril" (which makes me think of Monty Python and the Holy Grail) and Shaun of the Dead gets an R for "Zombie Violence/Gore" while Dawn of the Dead and Land of the Dead get it for other reasons.

And yeah, Twister's is the best, but on the DVD they changed it to "For Language" or something lame.

Can't forget that 'and for some language...' if it wasn't for that, I'm sure it would have been a PG-13+.

Rated R for strong disturbing sexual content and abuse involving a young teen, and for language. for towelhead.
there was also a documentary (i think about Dalfour) that was rated pg for thematic material including crimes against humanity. i kid not.

Shouldn't this be a selling point and not a warning?

Public Enemies just received an R rating--no surprise--for gangster violence and some language.

The best part is they generally forget to use these again. Shaun of the Dead is rated R for "Zombie violence" but Dawn of the Dead isn't. Go figure.

Saw Frozen River last night.

Rated R for "some language" say what?

Funny to me that they would be so hard on a movie like this for some language when this is not exactly the kind of movie that underage people are really clamoring to see(not that it wasn't good).

Isn't The Simpsons Movie rated PG-13 for "irreverent humor"?
