if you count the cameos that appear as well....The Player would win hands down in terms of sheer star power

Don't like to disagree with ya here but NO movie had the star power as It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World (which someone already mentioned). Check HERE for the full cast list.

Just watched True Romance again last night...totally forgot about that one in my first post. What a great cast (someone already listed the actors). Jack Black also had a bit part that was cut out (but remains on the DVD).

Magnolia...

Those are the same three movies I was going to mention. GlenGary on top, of course.

Hmmm, I don’t think anyone mentioned what to me are the most obvious ensemble cast lists, namely The Godfather and The Godfather II.

Lest we “old-timers” get left out of this thread, here are some star-power assemblages from some classic films. I’ve included most names recognizable to American audiences.

Murder on the Orient Express (1974)

Albert Finney, Lauren Bacall, Martin Balsam, Ingrid Bergman, Jacqueline Bisset, Jean-Pierre Cassel, Sean Connery, John Gielgud, Wendy Hiller, Anthony Perkins, Vanessa Redgrave, Rachel Roberts, Richard Widmark, Michael York

How the West Was Won (1962)

Carroll Baker, Lee J. Cobb, Henry Fonda, Carolyn Jones, Karl Malden, Gregory Peck, George Peppard, Robert Preston, Debbie Reynolds, James Stewart, Eli Wallach, John Wayne, Richard Widmark, Walter Brennan, Andy Devine, Raymond Massey, Agnes Moorehead, Harry Morgan, Thelma Ritter, Mickey Shaughnessy, Russ Tamblyn, Spencer Tracy, Harry Dean Stanton, Lee Van Cleef

The Longest Day (1962)

Eddie Albert, Paul Anka, Richard Beymer, Richard Burton, Red Buttons, Sean Connery, Fabian, Mel Ferrer, Henry Fonda, Steve Forrest, Jeffrey Hunter, Curt Jurgens, Peter Lawford, Roddy McDowall, Sal Mineo, Robert Mitchum, Kenneth More, Edmond O'Brien, Robert Ryan, Tommy Sands, George Segal, Rod Steiger, Robert Wagner, Stuart Whitman, John Wayne, Richard Dawson

The disaster flix of the 70’s (Airport, Towering Inferno, Earthquake et. al) also sported some impressive cast lists.

In addition, there were quite a few propaganda films made during WWII that contained dozens of stars in mostly cameo appearances (Thank Your Lucky Stars, Hollywood Victory Caravan, Stage Door Canteen, Hollywood Canteen).

And let’s not forget those MGM musicals such as Ziegfeld Follies and Till the Clouds Roll By which featured dozens of the studio’s artists in loosely-connected specialty numbers.

In the Bedroom, Three Kings, and to a lesser extent of ensembles (The Score, though a so-so movie).

Good call on U-Turn, was thinking of that the other night.

John Cusack
Michael Madsen
Benicio Del Toro
Michael Rapaport
Maury Chaykin
James Gandolfini
Philip Seymour Hoffman

Whats the name of the movie?
