Maybe that's why Gotham City is in so much trouble -- having a DA who's only old enough to be barely out of Law School. Jake seems like a good actor, but I can't understand why they'd repeat the same mistake they did with Katie Holmes (it probably makes the studio money guys happy, though). Bettany looks really good though. And it is all just speculation at this point, so its nothing to get worked up about. As long as Nolan and Bale are still on board.

I can see Jake as Harvey Dent. I mean they had Cillian Murphy playing a doctor and everyone bought that. Well not me, I bring it up with people everytime I watch the movie.

Most people commented that he was too young, and for the sake of argument, he was.

That said, I like Cillian, so  overall.

Speaking of Cillian, any talk of bring him back in the second movie? They could do a teaser with the Scarecrow a la Jame sBond to kick the movie off. As for the villians, I certainly do mind a repeat of old ones as this line of Batman films is not supposed to be realted to the older films. Plus getting some of the older villians "right" would be nice. Certainly the producers could go with new villians. And they wouldn't have to use King Tut or Egghead from the old TV Series :) They could do a Clayface or a Mad Hatter. But wouldn't you want to see the Joker again? And what if they tossed in Harley Quinn too?

It looks like they are trying to use villians that are grounded close to reality, so no Clayface or Mr. Freeze. Mad Hatter, minus the mind control cards, could be a truely great dark "real" character. Wouldn't be surprised if they used him in a future movie.

You and me both. I have nothing against Jake Gyllenhaal but he would have been woefully miscast as Bruce Wayne/Batman.

Well in one of the earlier Batman Begins threads someone mention that Goyer has gone on record that the Joker will be captured but not killed at the end of the second film and that during the beginning of the third film he will escape and disfigure Harvey Dent. The rest of the third film is Batman trying to capture Two-Face, whilst the Joker is free to run amuck.

Yeah, because there are no boyish lawyers in the world. :)

Well I guess I don't need to see the 2nd Batman movie now. Oh and while Paul Bettany is a good choice, I really like that guy from Match Point. I think he'd make a good Joker.

Paris Hilton as Batgirl.

Bettany just looks a little too normal for the Joker. You need someone with stronger features, where the makeup enhances the look rather than makes it. My choice would be Eddie Izzard:

He's no stranger to makeup:

I didn't bother to spoiler what I said given that was stated without spoiler tags in the Batman Begins thread. I figure it's old news by now. Besides, everyone knows that Nolan thinks that killing the Joker in the Burton film was a big mistake. As long as Nolan is directing, the Joker will never die in any of the new Batman films. As for Dent being disfigured in the third film, that's old news too. It was stated back when the actors and Nolan were being interviewed as to who was returning. Nolan said the plot and Goyer confirmed it (or was that the other way around?).

Here's the newest rumor by IMDB. Not too sure how i feel about this one.

The sequel to Batman Begins could become an Australian affair now that Hugo Weaving and Hugh Jackman are in the running to play villains. The two Aussie movie stars are the latest names linked to play The Joker and Harvey 'Two Face' Dent in the upcoming superhero adventure, according to moviehole.net. Producers are yet to nail down a firm list of candidates for Two-Face, but Firewall star Paul Bettany and another Aussie, Lachy Hulme, are reportedly being considered for the role of The Joker

gryffinmaster 02-21-06 12:58 AM

Weaving could be great as the Joker. The only problem is that he has a very deep voice. He'll have to work on that.

Let's keep Liev Schrieber as Dent, mmmkay? ;)

DeputyDave 02-21-06 12:58 AM

 Yeah, right an Aussie
Next you'll be telling us Bruce Wayne will be British.

animalmystic 02-21-06 10:45 PM

If done right I think a Mr. Freeze character could work very well. Make him a dark bitter guy with revenge on his mind and you are good to go.

Legolas 02-21-06 11:37 PM

All of these rumors (Philip Seymour Hoffman as Penguin, Liev Schrieber/Josh Lucas/Hugh Jackman as Two-Face, Adrien Brody/Paul Bettany/Hugo Weaving as Joker) that come out of nowhere seem to get an awful lot of mileage considering that a script hasn't even been written yet.

raven56706 02-22-06 08:44 AM

i can see hugo weaving as two face but not joker..... his laugh needs to be more funny

Mr. Cinema 02-22-06 09:07 AM

That IMDB rumor about Weaving and Jackman sounds like 1000% bullshit.

Groucho 02-22-06 09:11 AM

This is the Internet, folks. Fanboys aren't content with post "I'd like to see Jason Mewes play the Joker!" Instead, they post "I can't reveal my sources, but I have it on very good authority that Jason Mewes is a top contender for The Joker!"
