Paul Walker did very well in this movie. I don't usually like the guy, but he was fantastic here.

Oh, and fuck you, because it's one of my favorite 20 movies of all time too.

This movie was fucking stupid..........but it entertained the hell out of me. From the opening scene where the dude goes flying from a shotgun blast (I am so sick of seeing that shit in movies) I almost turned it off. Also, it took a little too long to kick off (IMO) after the hilarious shootout in the beginning.

The pedo scene was disgusting (especially when she was going through the closet) and stood out the most in the film - glad that scene ended the way I wanted it to.

Overall, just a stupid ass movie that has some of the best over-the-top action I've ever seen and some damn good camera work as well. Worth watching at least once.

Oh, I also agree that Paul Walker did an excellent job - he kept me in the moment and this is easily his best film.

Paul Walker was Paul Walker in this movie, PERIOD! He acts the same in every flick, like a low-rent Keanu Reeves. I pose the same question to you, have you only seen 19 other movies your whole life? Even if you enjoyed the movie, I can't believe you or anybody else was satisfied with the ending. A stupid twist that really makes the rest of the movie pointless. Bad writing=bad movie

A supreme concoction of a movie! It delivered everything I expected but didn't get from either "Sin City" or "A History of Violence". Story, style, acting, and directing...I loved everything about it (even the end credits were great). The replay value on this is through the roof. I hope it finds its audience and becomes a smash hit via DVD. I just finished watching it so I should probably reserve comment until later but I’d say that if you manage to tune in to the right wavelength you’ll find that “Running Scared” is a minor classic. If it were a 2005 film, it just might have been my favorite English-language film of the year (note: I’m drawing a distinction between the words “favorite” and “best”). From start to finish, the movie was jam-packed with entertainment all delivered with a ceaseless and nearly breathtaking forward momentum…..take your restroom break beforehand and have your popcorn and soda fully-loaded & filled to the brim. The film had a really curious vibe about it…..both grounded in reality but yet also with a very strong sort of fantasy (like Japanese manga) element….whatever it was, it was a success. To think….for all the time I spend following movies, I would have missed this one entirely if it weren’t for catching a bit of the TV commercial for the DVD, which led me to checking out the ad on IMDb, and so on. It’s a really great feeling to find a hidden gem when you weren’t even looking. Some might be put off by the violence, profanity, sex, etc., but I found that “Running Scared” was a lot of fun.

P.S. I am a huge fan of John Wayne……..so this one certainly had me .

edited to add: the film could have used a less generic title....but other than that it was great.

We get it, you don't like the movie. Paul Walker is expressionless in his movies, but was not here. This role required energy of him he never has had to put forth, PERIOD! The "twist ending" did not make the rest of the movie pointless, obtaining the gun was paramount.

As opposed to starting a whole new thread in the "Covers, Cases, & Inserts" forum, I'd like to ask it here, I just read the DVD reviews for this and they refer to a mini graphic novel insert that is packaged with the DVD. Did anyone receive this? I picked up a copy at Wal-Mart and it did not come with the insert.

First - Yes. Second - In all honesty, you're not missing out on anything if you didn't get it
Spoiler:
it's just a mini summary of the ice rink scene and well, it sucks

Thanks Rival11 for the feedback. It seems like the insert is not worth the bother...so I'll let it slide.

Like i've said many times on this forums, opinions are like assholes everyone has one. Let everyone have there own and stop commenting negatively on everyone elses opinion.

Personally I thought it was a good movie and I think the majority of the people that disliked it more than likely had a biased opinion before they even saw it(they either decided before they saw it that it was going to be bad or dislike like paul walker)

As far as hapgilmore goes its pretty ovbious you dislike paul walker so why even bother watching the movie when you already have an opinion about him? You went in thinking the movie was bad and of course it was because you had your mind set on that.

Just watched this tonight

Johnny Messner calling Paul Walker "*****" may be the funniest moment in movie history

The only problem I had with Walker was his accent faded in and out.

Good to Idalis make her way from being a VJ on MTV in the ealry 90's to playing a hooker today

The hockey scene was awesome. An enjoyable 2 hours. I'm glad they had the balls to end the pedophile scene like they did.

What kind of a moron leaves a stash of hot guns in his basement? I mean, nevermind the fact that he has a child living in that house, what about if something happened (fire perhaps?) and the cops found his stash?
He was working undercover so he was keeping them for evidence.

I can't believe how much I enjoyed this movie. The trailer made it look so bad, and on some levels I guess it was, but it was just so damn entertaining I didn't care. There was something about watching a movie go so gleefully over the top that I just couldn't resist.

Yeah, the trailers are what have been keeping me away from this movie. I guess you can't judge a movie by its trailer. I really need to rent this soon to finally see for myself.

Holy crap! Just saw this for the first time, and even though I was expecting the twist the whole way through, it was still gripping and tense despite being way over the top. At least it stayed on target.

I didn't know who Vera Farmiga was going into this, and half the time I thought she was Claire Forlani.

Well I preferred the Cuba Gooding Jr. Gladiator over the Ridley Scott version. I mean, hell, Scott took out all the boxing!

Well if the only 19 movies he's ever seen in his life include Coneheads, Airheads, Mixed Nuts, Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, Bulletproof, The Wedding Singer, The Waterboy, Big Daddy, Little Nicky, Mr. Deeds, Eight Crazy Nights, Anger Management, 50 First Dates and The Longest Yard, then hell, a Van Damme movie would make his Top 20 list.

Maybe you would've liked Running Scared more if Paul Walker resorted to using some annoying made-up accent and a lot of potty humor.

Can someone explain the ending to me?
Spoiler:
I don't understand the need for him to fake his own death since he was a cop and all the bad guys were dead by the end of the movie. What was he hiding from?

How soon do we have to wait before John Singleton makes 2 Scared 2 Run?

with Joey "coming back" at the end just screamed "the test screen audience didn't like the original ending, and this is the ending where he lives instead of dies.
Spoiler:
The director wanted to give the Russian kid a real family to come home to in the end. And since he also describes this movie as a fairy tale, you get the happy ending.

There were two mobs in this movie, and when you kill the guys at top, other people will just take their place. It's like Donnie Brasco.

Just finished watching it. Felt like they threw too many twists in at the ending, but overall I liked it. The part with the child molesters was one of the creepiest, but most creative and interesting scenes I've seen in a long time... It could have been its own movie... like People Under The Stairs. the guy who beat up his father , supposed to be Joey and is that how his father became a vegetable who spills spaghetti all over himself?

I rented this and thought it was pretty good. Kinda reminded me of Narc a little. Not nearly as good, but it had that same gritty, dirty feel to it.

That is the only question or "plot hole" that I have about the movie. The person I watched it with believed so, but I am still on the fence. I think common sense suggests that it is so.

Yes, that's what Joey is implying. It's pretty clear to me.

Just got done watching this on DVD. It's like 24 meets After Hours meets Judgment Night, cranked up to 11! Very violent, shockingly disturbing, stylistically innovative, and absolutely ridiculous - and all those things together made it absolutely fucking fantastic!

I loved the

That was inspired!

Best film of 2006 for me so far and it's gonna take some beating! I loved it!

I had no idea Paul Walker co-starred with Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines in Running Scared!
