The girl playing Luna is kind of hot. :D2:

Yay!
Spoiler:
Dumbledore's Army!

Also, Umbridge doesn't look particularly nasty, just uptight. She does look like my paternal grandmother, though, so if my mom was a student I could easily see her being a nasty bitch.

Emma Watson might not be in Potter 6 & 7

September 26, 2006 - Emma Watson, who portrays Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, has not yet committed to starring in the last two installments of Warner Bros.' mega-franchise. And she doesn't seem overly eager to do so.

"I don't know yet," Watson told Newsweek when asked about returning for the sixth film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. "Every film is such a huge production, and it's a long time." Unlike her co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint, the sixteen year-old actress isn't even sure if she wants to keep acting.

Potter producer David Heyman said losing Watson "would be a hard thing to change and it would be disrupting ... but ultimately (the films' young stars) have to do what's right for them. This is their lives." But he added, "I'm cautiously optimistic that it will work itself out."

If Hermione is recast it would not be the first cast change for the franchise. Michael Gambon was cast as Albus Dumbledore after Richard Harris died.

Or is this just all a publicity ploy by Watson and her reps to acquire a bigger paycheck for films six and seven? Gary Oldman, who plays Sirius Black, almost didn't return for the now-filming Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix after having his own highly publicized salary row with the filmmakers.

PixyJunket 09-27-06 08:03 AM

I'll say publicity ploy. I mean, c'mon.. a few more years of acting and the girl would probably never have to suffer another day of work for the rest of her life. I can't imagine being emo over that (then again, I'm not a teenaged girl, so who knows).

Okay, I finally figured out that the shortest kid is Colin Creevy's little brother.. so the only question mark left for me is who the kid on the far left is.

Going all geeky, I'm going to guess:
Spoiler:
That's Michael Corner. Since he has the same color tie as Luna, that'd make him a Ravenclaw. Since it isn't the same kid that played Justin Finch-Fletchly in CoS, it's got to be someone else. Also it can't be Zacharias Smith since he's in Hufflepuff.

I'll find a closet to go feel sorry for myself and cry in now.

Also, is that article saying that Oldman is back as Sirius? That's the first I've heard of it. I sure as hell hope so. Could get his stuff done over a weekend anyway.

PixyJunket 09-27-06 08:20 AM

Good catch on the tie color.. but then you've screwed up my guess work. I thought the kid second from the left was Colin Creevy.. but he's sporting Hufflepuff colors, unless his change of house was a movie thing (which wouldn't surprise me, though who I thought was his little brother still has a crimson tie).

pinata242 09-27-06 08:28 AM

Yeah, that's got to be Zacharias Smith, not Creevy the Greater. Which is weird why he'd be standing next to Ginny, I thought she and Michael were an item and Zach was more a bastard. Been a while since I read this one, might be time to revisit.

PixyJunket 09-27-06 08:30 AM

Well, even though it was against the book, I liked how Luna looked in the above picture with short hair (I guess it's just tied back in that picture). But here's another picture showing that she does have longer hair (and radish earrings!).

I do not think that Order of the Phoenix is the best Potter book, but if done right it could be the best Potter movie. With the Nazi theme at Hogwarts and the ending, it could be both deep, moving and exciting. Interestingly, this looks like it will come out 6 days AFTER book 7, so we will all know everyone's ultimate fate while watching. Could definitely impact the success of the film and how it is received.

Tonks looks great.

Luna looks good, too.

Man I miss Richard Harris he was so perfect as Dumbledore.

Watson will break down and be in the last two.

I completely disagree. He was much too stuffy, and looked noticeably weak and fragile it COS. Even if he lived I wouldn't believe him in HBP. He didn't capture any of the humour that Dumbledore in the book had.

I feel Gambon is better but not quite Dumbledore, but atleast he has the energy, and the versatility.

OOTP looks like it could be the best. There is a lot of fat they could trim from the books.

Kocheese99 09-27-06 10:31 PM

Well since OOTP is coming out in summer 07, HBP will come out Winter 08, which would mean that the 7th movie would be Summer 2010 if they stick to the pattern. I can see why Watson would get tired of it. Basically only working with the same people for a decade can grow tiresome. But for the sake of the fans i hope she sticks it out.

As awesome as 7\7\7 would be, it's looking less and less likely. The date hasn't been set yet and the book isn't nearly finished (according to JK Rowling). I hate to say this, but 2008 is looking more and more likely. We'll see...

pinata242 09-28-06 08:22 AM

Gambon will at least be able to go
Spoiler:
toe-to-toe with Fiennes in the Ministry lobby in OOP
without necessarily needing a stunt double or advanced face-mapping Dooku-esque technology.

pinata242 09-28-06 12:58 PM

Also very happy to see the Dursleys back.

Spoiler:
I am very interested to see why Harry has to go back to the Dursley's one more time, and what Mrs Dursleys secret is.

Oh and I do the think that the book will make 07/07/07. Rowling stated recently that the primary writing had been completed.

Where have you heard this? It's not that I don't believe you-it's great news. The last I heard was from Mugglenet on the 11th of this month:

Now we have confirmation in the form of an update to the the Rubbish Bin at JKR.com:

"Oh pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease. I haven't written 750 pages of book seven, and if I had, I'd be very worried, as I'm not close to finishing it yet."

Oh, now I hope so. I don't think it will, but I am still hoping. I think that would just be such fabulous symmetry.

And well they didn't announce HBP's release date until Christmas the year before, so it could still theoretically happen.

Hey the trailer for Order of the Phoenix is up on quicktime. Just a teaser, but I think it looks great!

Oh, just wait till you hear her voice. It's melodious and soft in an irish lass kind of way. It melts.

HBO OnDemand is playing a sneak preview of the movie until christmas eve.
