I caught the end of that movie the other night where Patricia Arquette guns him down. Now this. The guy did look grossly overweight the last few years, so his health probably wasn't all that great.

Damn, I'm gonna miss Nice Guy Eddie.

"THERE IS NO F-CKING SETUP!!!"

Yeah, he looked terribly bloated when he was on Law & Order.

:rip:

Sad to hear :(

RIP Chris.

If anyone has seen Abel Ferrara's The Funeral you would have seen what I believe to be his best performance. It is all over the map and almost bizarre the way he channels and distributes his anger. He handles this fierce character in so many different ways it was fascinating to watch. I don't know if a stable person could have pulled that one off.

He was a consistently good actor.

LOS ANGELES — Actor Chris Penn, brother of Sean Penn, was found dead Tuesday at a Santa Monica residence, police said. Police discovered the actor's body around 4 p.m., Lt. Frank Fabrega said.

"The Penn family would appreciate the media's respect of their privacy during this difficult time," Mara Buxbaum, Sean Penn's publicist, said in a statement.

Chris Penn's credits included "Mulholland Falls," "Rumble Fish," "All the Right Moves," "Footloose" and "Rush Hour." He also played Nice Guy Eddie Cabot in the 1992 Quentin Tarantino crime drama "Reservoir Dogs."

His late father, Leo Penn, directed television shows. His mother, Eileen Ryan, is an actress whose credits include "I Am Sam," "Magnolia" and "Parenthood." Another brother is musician Michael Penn.

Don't forget his voice work in the last grand theft auto game. Wow. Shocker, but on one hand the guy did get up there in weight. I hope it wasn't drugs... :(

boss429 01-24-06 10:34 PM

WOW this is just sad. Just watched At Close Range last night. RIP Chris.

Goldblum 01-24-06 10:34 PM

O.d.?

MartinBlank 01-24-06 10:35 PM

Bummer.

naughty jonny 01-24-06 10:35 PM

Man some of those wikipedia guys are quick. I went to see what he'd done, and already someone's updated the entry.

kvrdave 01-24-06 10:38 PM

Dang, I liked him. :(

Hopefully the media gives the family some space. Sean seems like the type that could seriously go postal on them if they don't.

GuessWho 01-24-06 10:46 PM

My fave role of his was Footloose.

The montage scene with Bacon teaching Penn to dance is an 80's classic.

DVD Polizei 01-24-06 10:59 PM

I liked his acting. I'm assuming it's drug related.

Sunday Morning 01-24-06 11:07 PM

I remember watching him in THE FUNERAL and his performance was so powerful... He looked like he could have a heart attack at any moment in that movie. It was that physical of a performance.

This is sad news.

Kittydreamer 01-24-06 11:14 PM

:( That's too bad. I'm so sorry for his family.

lordwow 01-24-06 11:30 PM

:(

At Close Range is one of my all time favorite films. I enjoyed Chris's performance in all the work he has done. RIP.
