Same her! This movie didn't play very long at all in the theater, and I almost completely forgotten about it.

Well, Harrison Ford is now dead to me. Firewall was one of the worst movies I've seen in a long time... The trailer had more thrills in two minutes than this had in 100, never a good thing. One of the bad guys summed it up best when he said "I don't hate you Sarah, I just don't care about you"...that's how I felt with almost every character in this POS.

"I NEED TO GET BACK MY DOG!"

Maybe the movie was not booked here locally, but still, it's not advertised in the paper, or even on the theater marquee for some reason unknown.

So-so flick. Not one of the better films I've seen but certainly not the worst. Just a popcorn flick that I only paid $4 to see (matinee price).

I will be passing on this one on DVD also.

I hope Spielberg see this movie because he needs to know that most of us can't see Ford doing Indiana Jones anymore. Please don't do a Part 4 and ruin a the character.

Thought about seeing this, but after all the terrible reviews, I'll just rent instead.

I agree 100%, terrible dialogue. The actress that played Jack's secretary looked miffed the entire movie -
Spoiler:
the last shot with the dog, looked soooo 'Little House on the Prarie'. The son looked ugly as sin, couldn't act either. One of the film's anatogonists seemed to disappear completely at the end, maybe a violent death that was excised to gaurentee the film's it's PG-13 rating.

I can't stand James Bennet who plays the Son. He was in Hostage and Amityville Horror, he drove me nuts in both of those films. Then I saw the trailer for Poseidon before Firewall, and there he was AGAIN (I leaned over to a friend, not knowing the kid was IN firewall, and said "I hope that kid dies in the first 15min of Posiedon, otherwise, it's going to be unbearable")...and then, he rears his ugly head in the movie I'm there to see...I was pissed.

I don't know who in Hollywood he KNOWS or is RELATED to, but there is no other reason a kid like this should be getting parts except nepotism. He is awful.

Wow. I didn't hate the son at all. For once I DIDN'T hate the kids in the movie. I also liked Virginia where I hated her in Sideways. Strange.

he looks like one of those kids who needs to get slapped around.

Oh yeah, hated the kids as well. I gotta agree with MDC, that boy was damned ugly and not a very good actor.

The daughter might have been passable, except in the few things where she actually did stuff, she was given idiotic things to do.

Spoiler:
when Harrison borrowed her iPod (stupid plot device in the first place) she whined non-stop about it. Hmmmm, there are men with automatic weapons in your house, and you aren't gonna be able to listen to Ashlee Simpson, damn that sucks!

When Robert Patrick told Harrison Ford that if he wanted anything to just ask, I thought somehow he'd be coming to he aid of our hero. Of course, how everything gets cleared up for him in the end would've been interesting to see, even though it would've been useless in terms of the actual movie.

While I agree about your first point, I think you're exaggerating waay too much about the second.
Spoiler:
She just asked once if she was going to get it back. Unless we saw 2 different movies, I wouldn't count that as "non-stop whining".

Have to agree with most the people here though. Easily a skippable movie.

OK - just got back from seeing this (opened last week). Not bad, but not great either.

Few thoughts:

Is it me, or is Harrison Ford getting old? I know he's 63, but he's not a 'young' 63. My first thought when I saw him and Virginia was 'I wonder if he's playing her husband or her father'. Granted there is only 19 years between them (she's 44), but it would have been nice if he'd gotten someone a little closer to his age to play his wife.

As for the movie itself, there were a couple of really big plot holes:

Spoiler:
Where did all the bad guys go? The number at the start, less the number killed, just didn't seem to add up. That's just a huge flaw and one that screams "edit".

Spoiler:
Given that he KNEW that they were not going to be let go, why not plan something around the secure part of the bank? They'd already made the comment that the family had seen their faces. My first thought would have been to take him into the vault, and have the receptionist call the police.

At that stage, it's just kidnapping, and something that Paul's character can plea bargain away - remember the guy he was talking to on the phone? If he then chooses to escalate it by murdering the family, then that's a death sentence there and then.

Now, you might say that why would Ford's character risk his family to make a risky ploy? Well, as we saw when they all tried to escape, he wasn't above taking risks, and this seems to be a fairly low risk when you consider the alternative plan.

Spoiler:
What happened to the guy that Paul's character was talking to? He was shown as being the bad guy, but never referenced again. Sure, that's probably closer to real life, but you'd think they'd have some wrap there.

Spoiler:
As has been previously mentioned...why would they take the dog? While I didn't pick up on the clue (despite how obvious it was in retrospect), it still makes no sense why they'd take it.

Spoiler:
Why would they have simply expected the pizza boy to come on in when this guy is in the security business. Virginia's character just opens up the door without buzzing anyone through or even going through the pretence of checking who's there. Now, while you or I might not, this family is worth a lot of money and is in a business where kidnapping for ransom is not unheard of.

Spoiler:
When Harrison's character types on the PC and is discovered, wouldn't he have been just as resourceful to do the same thing using a pen and a post-it note and pass it to someone as he's walking by? Sure, it would be different if he chose to follow directions, but as the 'pen exchange' afterwards shows, he was still trying to get information out there.

And once he's dropped the pen, he goes to her desk, writes a message on a piece of paper and gives it to someone.

There probably was a lot more holes, but these ones just hit me as being blindingly obvious - and they were as I was watching, not afterwards when I'd had time to think about it.

As I said - it was a fun bit of forgetfulness, but hardly near his best. And certainly not a film to stand up and applaude (imo).
