I am kind of surprised that Judi Dench is getting a nomination for Mrs. Henderson Presents, since the reviews I have read have been pretty negative and the fact that The Weinstein Company, pushed the national release of the film, to mid January.

Crash might have had an impressive cast, but it was the preachy, over the top script, that I personally felt was the most flawed aspect of the film.

Again, Good Night, and Good Luck - great cast, and interesting bit of history but as a film, it felt like a film that one would have subjected to in high school history class.

Brokeback and Capote - tough call, even though I thought Brokeback was the better film, I thought the acting was uniformly better in Capote

I am surprised that The Squid and the Whale got completely shafted, both for Jeff Daniels and ensemble acting.

I'm pulling for a sweep for Ziyi: GG, SAG, Oscar

Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role

Don Cheadle / CRASH – Graham (Lions Gate Films)
Giamatti very well deserves this also.

Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role

Rachel Weisz / THE CONSTANT GARDENER – Tessa Quayle (Focus Features)
Thandie Newton should've been nominated. The woman consistently delivers fine performances and her role in Crash was top-notch.

Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture

CRASH (Lions Gate Films)
Chris “Ludacris” Bridges - Anthony
Sandra Bullock - Jean Cabot
Don Cheadle - Graham
Matt Dillon - Officer Ryan
Jennifer Esposito - Ria
Brendan Fraser - Rick Cabot

Larenz Tate - Peter

Whether people think it's too preachy or not, this was a damn good performance from each member. Even Ludicris couldn't screw it up and held is own.

Too many characters pretty much lessened the impact for me.
They get like one powerful scene each?

I'd say they at least get a couple. Smartly, Bullock and Ludacris were not very prominent.

Munich and King Kong - totally ignored, but then again, neither one is really an "actor's movie".

Agree with the comment above - how can Squid and the Whale be ignored? Some of the best acting on film all year!

Why wouldn't they, both are getting pretty high acclaim.
