Joseph Gordon-Levitt's performance in this movie is just amazingly good; if he doesn't pick up an Oscar himself in the next few years I'll be very surprised. Very sad, very hot, both repulsive and comforting. Gregg Araki's always been interesting, but never this human before.

Someone add "The Business of Fancydancing" to the list, please.

Holy crap. Thanks for the input, guys. Here's a couple of thoughts...
Some of you didn't read my whole post. I don't just want gay-themed movies, I want movies that are beloved by gay audiences are considered MUST-SEE'S by the general gay community at large. Like the Sound of Music and Mommie Dearest. Make sense?
Also, play nice. Especially you, digi. I'm sorry that you think all of these movies suck, but I'm still interested in seeing some of them.
Movie thoughts:
I may try and edit the first post to do a comprehensive list, if I have time. And I might bold the ones I have seen, if anyone cares.
I liked the Birdcage. Sure, it was fairly stereotypical and sterile, but it's funny. And I don't think there's anything in it that's offensive. It doesn't do much to break down stereotypes, or to further the gay cause. But come on! Gene Hackman in drag? Good stuff.
Can't believe I didn't put Rocky Horror in my original list. D'oh!
Is Torch Song Trilogy the Matthew Broderick/Harvey Firestein one? I want to see that....

Wizard of Oz (Judy Garland films but this one is a must)
All About Eve
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
A Streetcar Named Desire
Grease
Xanadu
La Cage aux folles <--French version of The Birdcage
Cabaret
Maurice
Longtime Companion
A little Greta Garbo, Bette Davis, Barbara Streisand, dash of Katherine Hepburn (screwball comedies with Cary Grant is bonus points), some Rock Hudson/Doris Day and I think you'll have a nice foundation.
You can check this book for more:
101 Must-see Movies for Gay Men By Alonso Duralde, Consortium Book Sales & Dist - November 2005 ISBN: 1555838669.

Anywho my friend talked very highly of their multi-award winning 'Fallen Angel' film series. It's mainly leather/bondage. I'm sure he's mentioned other films but that was part of a longer conversation about making movies in general so I remember the name.

Rebel and Without a Cause and Fight Club, really? I didn't know these were really big in the gay crowd. Then again i'm straight as they come and even i get funny feelings while watching Jared Leto in Fight Club.
I was going to start a thread about Misintertations of Homosexuality in film, and these were the two films that were the reason i've always wanted to do it. I guess I always assumed Rebel got put in this catagory was because of Sal Mineo(sp?) and Dean real life sexual prefences.
Did anyone already say Aimee and Jaguar, i think it was the name of it anyway. I've only seen it once but i really enjoyed it.
