Big Lebowski, but prefer Arizona to both.

So...I hadn't seen The Big Lebowski in a long time. Having just seen 'No Country', the Coens were fresh on my mind and I found the HD version of Big Lebowski for $15. I decided to pick it up, thinking that maybe the first time I saw it, I just wasn't in either the right mood, or the right state of mind (I mean, everyone says how damn good it is...). So I picked it up, and watched it this morning.

I still can't understand why everyone says this is such a good movie. The dialogue isn't great...the characters never really develop...and the movie, to me, just isn't funny.

Maybe it's just me, as 149-119 at the time I write this have voted, with more for the Big Lebowski. I love the Coens, loved Fargo, loved No Country, but maybe I just don't 'get' this one...

That just like, your opinion man

I didn't like TBL the first time I watched it. I found not one of the characters to be likeable or sympathetic in any way. Had a similar reaction to Fargo, actually, though it still seemed like a better movie at the time.

Since then, I have seen TBL a few more times and warmed up to 'the dude' and now I actually like the movie and find it funny. I haven't really watched Fargo again though, it was good but there is a lot of negativity that I don't really like to be immersed in. Black comedy, if that's what it is, is a tough sell for me. I will watch it again at some point though.

Based solely on replay value, Lebowski by a mile. Seen Lebowski at least 30 times, keeps getting better and better. Saw Fargo once, and have no real desire to see it again.
