Why can't I see the damn thing. I tried at work as well and got the message that some file is needed to play but Quicktime doesn't have the file.

I dug the sequel, but I agree with the others...
1. Kids look too modern
2. Just looks like more of the same.
I'll still go check it out though.

I saw it and it was ok. I'm a huge fan of the original and thought the remake was ok. I think what made the movie "ok" for me was the violence because the story was so, so. It was pretty gruesome. Some really cool shots of limbs being removed and such. The thing that caught me right off the bat was that it seemed like a remake of the remake. Crazy kids who meet up with a big butcher and his crazy father figure. R. Lee Ermey was of course good in the movie and probably the only reason I would consider seeing this again, that and to see some cool violence. All in all it just seemed like a big cash-in.

Saw this last night, pretty much the second half is a remake of the original. very violent, just what i wanted. If you enjoy this type of stuff go and have fun. The audience was really into it yelling at the screen and cheering, so that kept me interested during a few of the slower parts in the middle.

this movie was simply gratitous in every way- hardly a plot, just a parade of splat - this film pushed it's hard R violence close to NC-17 level. Still figuring out if I really liked it or not

The idea of a horror prequel is annoying. We know nobody from the family of maniacs in Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning will die because we already saw them all alive in 2003's TCM: A New Hope. That means anyone looking for the returning Sheriff Hoyt to get punished for R. Lee Ermey's grody overacting here is screwed. So is this movie's youthful cast, who number only four so that they may be tortured slowly — it's the modern mode of horror — and artlessly. Unlike Hostel or Wolf Creek, TCM:B is rank and depressing.

TCM-B was not the best horror movie i have ever saw but i also think gregory was a little harsh with the review. probably does not even like horror FILMS. i give it a b+ because atleast it tried and TOBE HOOPER the originator was the producer!

TCM:B was absolutely horrific, terrifying, full of realistic gore, mind boggling, and I loved every minute of it! Not often I get scared and jumpy watching horror films, but this one had me squirming in my seat. My friend had to leave and watch another movie just 20 minutes into the film. Everything was done perfectly in TCM:B....the spine tingling score, the acting, and the gory special affects. How can EW give it such a snub of a review? I'd like to see reviewer Gregory Kirschling chased through the woods and scrapped by leatherface any day! Absolute A

i would have been better off paying someone $ 7 to kick me in the nuts than the $7 i paid to see this movie. Same plot as the first, some things clarified from the remake in 2003, but almost the same, nothing spooked me or was overly gorey. However i am desensitised to this kind of gore.

Well, there's my monthly shot of gore and scantily clad rear end in one movie. Thanks, but I was hoping for at least as much fun out of this prequel as I got from the 2003 remake. Unfortunately, the action started too soon, and you were forced to not care about these folks. Did I love it? Will I buy the DVD? Of course, that's what horror fanatics DO!

Ok, just saw the movie. AWESOME! I cannot believe that the movie was rated R. Very gory, very graphic. Cannot stress this enough. 4 people left theatre on gory scenes. I know most know the story line and how it is going to turn out but I am a horror fan and have not seen a movie like this in many years! My hats off for them pushing the envelope!! Not for the weak of heart and there is nothing left for the imagination. I personally loved it. If you love the Texas Chainsaw movies you will absolutely love this one.

Did anyone else notice that no matter how bloody and dismembered the young victims were, they always had perfect teeth? Eric especially.

OHH!!! NO!!! It doesn't have the twisting aspect of Saw or Scream... I was so looking for another hollywood scary movie with a soap opera aspect. Thats ok... I know that the Texas Chainsaw Massacre 9 will have you saying... "Oh my gosh! I never expected the killer to be a bunny rabbit." Who cares if the movie isn't twisting enough? If that is all that you get out of movies then stay home and watch your freakin M. Night Shyamalan movies and keep wondering when that specific twist will happen in your life. You know the one where a girl is watching with you as well.

i dont understand how people could even review a horror movie.... horror movies are all the same and they are made for people who like that. for some person to give a review like this one and actually given credit for it is pretty lame because the reviewer could probably wacth a bridget jones movie and think it was excellent. totally out of context. i think if your a horror movie fan this is up your alley. enough said.
that insults me as a horror fan

The film made me want to take a shower afterwards, since I felt so dirty and depressed!
It's one vicious nasty grim flick that is the closet thing to an actual 'grindhouse' film than any of the wannabe attempts made in the past few years!
Of course such excessive nastiness with nary a hint of dark humor to level things out, becomes overwhelmingly unpleasent to view and no fun at all. And the prequels trapings do take away what little suspense could still be made. So you're left with just unrelenting nastiness and nothing more. And it does make you ponder "Why am I watching this? What is the point?".
So view at your own risk, this is the most sadistic flick of the year!

there were plenty of funny things in this movie. the sheriff had tons of zingers and the scene with the mega fat lady was funny too.
a horror movie with zero humor is wolf creek, in my opinion.
