The Cutting Edge 2

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0463953/

Moira Kelly is back. No DB Sweeney though. Christy Carlson Romano as their daughter, maybe? Not sure if she could pass for 13-14.

I'm gonna see this

I'll take the major hit in the man points category...but I'll watch this. I really liked the first one.

I don't see the point in doing this movie, especially without D.B. Sweeney. I'm assuming Terry O'Quinn won't be back either?

"The Cutting Edge" is one of my "guilty pleasures". Everytime, I mean EVERYTIME it's on cable I'm there watching it and having a good time.

Oh, man. I'll definitely see this. I'm ashamed to say how high up the original is on my fave movie list. Starsky created a masterpiece . Can't believe it's been 13 years. I feel old now.

Too bad there's no DB in it. Haven't seen him around in a while. Actually haven't seen much of Moira either. Looking forward to a new Toe Pick scene.

Finally! Hopefully they'll resolve all the unanswered questions from the first movie.

Well, we don't actually know if they won the gold, even with the Pamchenko Godamnit, the suspense!

No DB Sweeney, No Terry O'Quinn, Different writer, Different director, and a February release date...this thing has "dud" written all over it. Actually it has "direct to video" written all over it - I'm wondering if it will even see a theatrical release.

By the way, the new Doug is being played by Scott Thompson Baker - former soap actor - who does kind of look like DB.

Yeah, I would imagine this is a DTV release as well. I don't think the original lit the box office world on fire in the first place.

I saw The Cutting Edge in the theater on a date when I was 16 years old. Ah, good times.

Just checked out Oksana's photo gallery on IMDB. Is it me, or does she look at least 10 years older than she actually is?

I especially like the photos on page two of the images from Awards, Premiere Parties & Festivals from The Hollywood Squares - Olympics Week

Loved the first one, but this will probably be a huge disappointment. Still worth a rental, unless the reviews are especially harsh. I'm at least glad they connected the story somewhat will the original instead of making an unrelated rehash and calling it a sequel (like Single White Female 2).

This isn't as bad as the 8 Seconds sequel rumored to be coming out. How do you make a sequel to a real-life biopic where the main character dies?

I think you can blame some of that on her "booze problems". Apparently she's recovering so that's good.

But to me it doesn't matter. She's still hot and always has been.

Back on Topic:

I can't wait for The Cutting Edge II!! Do you think they'll give it a Hip abbreviated name like "CE2" or something like that?

Same with me I remember trying to find the soundtrack CD at Tower Records after seeing it and couldn't believe they didn't release one. I literally bought every CD for each individual song I could find from the movie so I could make a tape of them together. Finding "Baby Now I" and "Groovemaster" (bought the soundtrack for "The Mighty Quinn" for that one) was a bitch back in the pre-internet days. In '98 they finally released the soundtrack CD after all those requests. It's still one of my faves.

Yeah, I don't see anything substantial at IMDB (The Darwin Awards sounds cool though). Too bad, I really liked him, especially in The Cutting Edge and Fire In The Sky.

They actually released another deluxe version which also includes the score segments. Definitely worth the upgrade. Still no Chris Isaak though.

Just noticed that DVDEmpire has The Cutting Edge: Gold Medal Edition up for preorder on 1/31. No doubt to tie in with the sequel. Hope it gets a new transfer and maybe a DD track. No specs yet.

Does this mean they won the Gold Medal at the end? I wonder if each DVD comes packaged with a toepick.
