I saw it last night with my thirteen year old & 16 year old brother's and we had a ball with it man. It was obviously over the top and it was just good goofy fun man. I mean come on, Sam Jackson, bare chests, Gore and bad dialogue makes for a great big screen B-flick. Go have a few beers and some grub with the boys and then go enjoy all that is SoAP!

Spoiler:
I don't think it's going to make much more than low 20's this weekend, but honestly it might have better legs than people imagined...because a vast majority of people in the theatre lobby were talking about "I thought that would suck, but it was the best movie of the summer"...I'm not even kidding, I heard at least 3 different people say that... so I think word of mouth will be pretty strong. Of course, next week with 4 other flicks opening, it may just fade away.
And the Rocky Horror comparison is totally fitting...I'm sure we'll see midnight screenings with SOAP fans for years to come.

Friday's numbers are up at boxofficemojo. It took in $6.13M on Friday to give it $7.53M counting the Thursday night screenings. It is sitting as the number 1 movie right now.

Made $6.1 million on Friday. So it's going to land somewhere near $18 to $20 million for the weekend...a little more if you add Thursday night's take. It's almost certainly going to be the top movie of the weekend, so whomever said it wouldn't finish in the top 3 should be eating crow right about now...
Of course, I thought the take would be closer to 40 mil than 20 mil, so I'm a little suprised by the take as well...unless it manages to make over $15 million both today and tomorrow - but I'm guessing it will be closer to $8 mil each day.

I wish it had made more, but I guess for a movie called Snakes on a Plane that's pretty good. I hope it does well on dvd and in midnight movies for years to come. I completely loved it myself. It was a total blast. I am thinking about going back for seconds later on today.

I saw this last night in a completely full theater at 11:55. Got there pretty early and with 45 minutes before showtime there was a huge line. I guess my theater experience isn't necessarily typical though since I almost always go to the Alamo Drafthouse here in Austin.

it was entertaining...the theater wasn't that full, so that probably influenced it. i thought it was pretty good, not awesome, but good...i had overhyped it to myself so much. i wish jackson cussed more..the payoff line was disappointing when it came. i wanted more fury.

I thought it was a hoot, had that "Love Boat" vibe at the start, and then all hell broke loose once the snakes were let loose on the plane. Everything screamed "B-Movie" and it definitely did not take itself all that seriously, which added to its charm. You pretty much get what you think you're going to get, and I would grade it a little higher if the 2nd half didn't hit a lull before getting to the conclusion. The crowd reaction was pretty good, which added to the viewing experience.
I give it 2.5 stars, or a grade of C+.

Saw it today and enjoyed it. It's seemed kinda weird finding a lot of the snake kill scenes funny, but that is exactly how it was. The part where
was especially funny.

I saw it earlier tonight with a decent sized crowd. I don't see why anyone who went in knowing what it was all about would possibly hate it. The crowd was the most vocal, cheering and clapping, for the following:
I'm going to go see it again, I liked it that much.

I laughed, I cried, it was amazing. As some reviews have pointed out, it's impossible to be disappointed by this movie because it delivers everything that it promises, and they couldn't be more right.
My favorite part was one when...
Spoiler:
I was dying by that point. I had tears in my eyes. Just thinking about it again is making me laugh.

I love it love it love it.
And I have a early idea for what they should do for the 2-disc Infinifilm (and you know that's what they're gonna go for):
-DD EX/DTS-ES tracks
- Samuel L. Jackson commentary
- filmmakers/snake handler commentary
- documentaries on the making of the movie, Samuel L. Jackson, the snakes, and the internet phenomenon
- deleted scenes (and judging from the book, there’s a TON)
- Cobra Starship music video
- the original Saturday Night Live sketch
- snake gallery
- trailer gallery

I saw it tonight with a small audience(it was playing on two screens,so there is a chance the other showing was more packed). And everyone, myself included had a ball with the film. Laughing and giggling throughout and just enjoying the ride.
This was the most fun I've had at the theaters in quite some time.

I went to see a 7:20 showing at one of my area's biggest theaters...counting me and my GF, I think there were about a dozen people there.
Anyway, if SNAKES doesn't perform well, it won't be the movie's fault...the flick is just pure fun - reminded me a lot of some of the great action films made in the 80s, where filmmakers didn't worry about logic and just were out to entertain the audience.
Funny, the two BEST movies of the summer are going to be two that the majority of movie goers chose not to see:
SNAKES ON A PLANE
CLERKS II
If there's good news from SNAKES less than stellar weekend, I can't imagine many leaving this movie and not recommending it to friends...so it should get good "word of mouth".

Anyway, agreed on all counts. The movie was a blast, surpassing my expectations and just flat-out delivering the goods. I hope it can pick up some steam since there won't be any blockbusters on the way anytime soon.

Well I guess the less-than-stellar take (13 million weekend/15 million overall) will mean studios won't bother going overboard with internet promotions for flicks for a long time. Either that or the vast majority of internet users interested in this film were either a) too young to get into it (i.e. under 17!) or b) the kind that never leave the house and wait for DVD. Probably both.
If it were a bad movie, it wouldn't bother me...but I always get a little miffed when decent films do poorly (like Snakes) and bad movies make multi-millions (see, Ricky Bobby, Pirates...pretty much every other big budgeted flick out there).

I wouldn't say that. Look at how Myspace helped Step up a week prior. I think the proper mindset in it is to not believe that it will make a huge difference.
Besides that, Snakes on a plane's internet marketing was really 90% done by the general public. So that just helped the film since it's free promotional push.
15 million for this type of movie, especially since it only cost around 36 million to make would be considered a great success.

IMDB ratings tend to average a bit high at first, with the enthusiastic fans praising the film, perhaps even falsely rating it higher than they feel it really deserves, to give it recognition early on. As time goes on though, the ratings will mellow out and SoaP will be ranked more accordingly to popular opinion.

I saw it today and had a great time... as did most of the 20-odd people there.
