OK, who has actually seen the movie? I heard they have a huge marketing campaign in Hong Kong and I'm a little bit interested in seeing it. Is it good?

Seems interesting. And, yeah, I caught the horse antics in the trailer. That seemed odd given that the trailer makes the bulk of the action sequences seem down to earth.

Admittedly, The Myth really isn't my type of film, so after 30 minutes I walked out of the industry screening in Toronto. But it seems to be doing well in Asia.

Hmm. I might gave it a shot after all. But anyway, I read this article off Yahoo:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20051007...n_051007121615

I'll never die -- or kiss, says Jackie Chan

BUSAN, South Korea (AFP) - Action hero
Jackie Chan, famous for playing good guys, said he is forbidden to ever die on screen -- nor even share a screen kiss.

Chan told reporters at the Pusan International Film Festival in
South Korea that he wanted to have his character in his latest movie "The Myth" killed off -- but was told it could never happen.

"I tried to die in the movie but my company said, 'Jackie Chan cannot die, he cannot have a sex scene, a kissing scene...'" Chan said.

"For all the years I have been a role model for all the children around the world. There's a lot of action in the film, but it's not violent, there's no dirty words, no F-words, because there are so many children watching my movies," said the star of "Rush Hour" and "Shanghai Noon".

The slapstick kung-fu king was in the southern port city of Busan to promote his latest film, which co-stars Korean actress Kim Hee-seon, Indian bombshell Mallika Sherawat and Hong Kong actor Tony Leung Ka-fai.

"The Myth", a
Stanley Tong-directed action movie set in China and India and in which Chan plays an archeologist who ends up on an Indiana Jones-style adventure, made its premiere Friday night at the festival's 5,000-seat outdoor cinema.

At a press conference before the screening, Chan launched a broadside against movie pirates who he blamed for damaging the Asian film industry.

"Asia has a population of two billion so why isn't (Asian film) thriving? It's because of the Internet and piracy. It's a very big problem in Asia now," Chan said.

"I urge anyone who sees pirated copies of Hong Kong films, any films, not to buy them but to go to the cinema and watch them," he added.

"The Myth" is among the more mainstream offerings among the 300-plus films being screened at the festival to an audience of almost 200,000 across South Korea's second-largest city.

Chan's appearance lent a touch of Hollywood glamour to Asia's biggest and most critically acclaimed film festival, which is traditionally devoted to more art-house films.

The star, wearing a pastel blue silk suit and white Chinese-style shirt, earlier met screaming fans in the city's Nampodong district.
Its gotta be suck if you're unable to play as a dying person on screen. I heard most actor would like to do that at least once.

the reason he can't do these things is because of the thickle nature of his asian fans. unfortunatly, the fans there expect you to do the same thing over and over again without change. if you do, you lose your fanbase quite fast. to show how serious this can be, one time there was a rumor is a japanese newspaper that Jackie had a girlfriend. A young female fan saw this, then went to where Jackie has a business office and committed suicide.

that's just dumb; some people are just stupid.

i respect jackie for sticking with his principles though. but i will admit it's kind of lame how the "romance" is handled in his movies when he can't kiss or have love scenes; they're often cutsey and he becomes immasculated into a little bitch around the ladies. Best example is the "romance" with Love Hewitt in Tuxedo.

I was interested until someone mentioned "horse antics" and we all know how those usually turn out.

The less we mention that movie, the better.

Well finally I got the chance to see the movie some time ago.

(spoiler alert)

It was... all right. It has its moment - funny jokes, good action sequences but that's about all. The story is a little bit too simplistic, the imagination is running over the top. Meteor rock that can make things fly? Come on...

and worst of all, they cut off the best part short! I mean, that Indian chick Mallika Sherawat. Jackie promised her that he'll be back. And when the action near the end finished with the princess chooses to stay I'm telling to myself that at least I'm going to see her at least in one more scene. But what do you know. Instead of beautiful sexy chick we got to see a book instead.
