Just Like Heaven - Chick Flic
Just Like Heaven is just that for women, men will most likely find it a little blob of hell.
The characters are sweet. The plot, even though predictable, is sweet. The sets are beautiful. The actors are beautiful. Mark Ruffalo is beautiful! Reese is not only adorable, but tiny, tiny, tiny. Now I'm not saying it's the greatest movie of the summer or anything...but it doesn't stink. No one offends, there's no blood, there's no scary stuff, there's no reason for men to see it at all except as escorts for their gals.
Mr. Ruffalo did some outstanding comedic prats and footwork. And the whole put your hand clear through someone deal was smoothly done. Jon Heder, who plays a bookstore owner? clerk? is excellent. The director "held him down" and he was very believable. I personally couldn't keep my eyes off his teeth, trying to figure out why they were so WHITE and ODD. I think maybe he had clear braces, but what the heck do I know. I just know I was fixated on his choppers.
Here in Houston, at a matinee, old folks get in for six and one half bucks.... that's pretty beautiful.
It'd be a great date movie.... and she'll owe you big time.
I'm not into the tech aspects, per se, but the film had a "dreamy" quality that was nice and romantic. The gardens are absolutely stunning and made me want to go home and start planting and paving and errecting gazebos.
Old folks, if I liked it, I think you'll like it too.

I saw it yesterday with my wife. She didn't drag me. First of all I like fantasies when done well. I even like "chick flicks" when done well. Few are but I thought this one was everything the OP said. The leads were utterly charming and likable and I cared about what happened (as predictable as the final outcome was).
This movie gets from me:
a solid ***/****.

If you couldn't see that it was going to be a chick flick from the preview or even the poster alone... you really need to buy a clue.

I've actually been looking forward to this since I first so the trailer. Glad to hear it's good.

Another for this one - well-made and played to perfection. Don't go expecting to see a great movie, but most should find it thoroughly enjoyable and satisfying, which is more than you can say for the majority of movies out there.

Not sure which thread is the "official" one (maybe they should be merged?), so here is what I posted in the other one:
Hey . . . movielib and I agreed!!
Oh, wait . . . that's because we're not in "Other".

- Some of the story line was predictable, but they managed to slip in some good twists as well.
- I don't remember seeing him in the trailers, but I thought Heder did a decent job (nothing Oscar, but not completely a repeat of Napolean). If nothing else, he was cast appropriately.
Overall, if you're going to go see a romantic comedy, this is a pretty decent one to see.

seen it and liked it. My favorite part is when the "ghostbusters" come, you hear the music and see these goofy guys saying they caught the sprit. best part of the movie.

Liked it. Saw it with some friends. Wife couldn't make it.
To me, a "chick flick" is one that you wouldn't go to unless your "chick" dragged you. I didn't think this was going to be one of those and didn't think it was.
