What happened to the new CHEECH & CHONG movie?

I heard they made a CHEECH & CHONG movie, but after looking at the rest of the upcoming 2005 movie lists it's nowhere to be found.
Is it going straight to dvd?

IMDB doesn't even have it listed, and they usually will list anything that's in any state of production.

Currently, there were only tentitive discussions about the comedy duo to be reunited for a new movie project in the near future. Post-Productions relating to this project, has not been officially confirmed at the present time.

Guess it's time to dump the 5000 shares of HSX stock I have in this movie. Bought it when it was announced at $20/share. It's worth $.45/share now. No point in riding it out if it ain't gonna happen.

It seems to me that Cheech doesn't want to do that mexican-dope user part.
But he has played some really bad guys in the last 10 years.
I don't see why they don't make a anti-drug movie.
They could do a movie where they have been in prison since the 1980's for a major drug bust and are getting out of prison now. They could show that the weed today is dangerous than what they smoked 20 years ago.

I guess our hopes for a new movie just went Up In Smoke. It would be odd seeing some 50-60 year old guys strutting around talking about smoking dope and such.

There's been ongoing personal conflicts involving the two, which has develop in the past, and continuing on today, that's causing a major hindrance on the possibility of them to ever reunite, and collaberate on new projects.

Except for the fact that Tommy Chong still smokes marijuana and the potency argument is an urban legend.

Cheech and Chong's Last Movie is on Showtime and Paramount +

It came out in 2024 but as usual with movies owned or licensed by Showtime you have to wait 2 years or longer to watch them

Re: What happened to the new CHEECH & CHONG movie?

Watched this the other night.

The title is kind of false advertising; this is a documentary/career retrospective and not a sixth (or seventh? Does Corsican Brothers count?) Cheech & Chong movie.

Overall, it as pretty good for what it was. It was interesting to see how they came together and how they fell apart. I do sort of wonder if there wasn't a bit more to their break-up, but you can see how the tension sets in between them where Cheech is the one with the charisma and presence, and Tommy comes off as more of writer/director and guy with a vision. Not surprising that they eventually started clashing as they made more movies.

That doc is really good. A lot of their background and team dynamics and fighting were not known to me.

Re: What happened to the new CHEECH & CHONG movie?

A must watch

Surprised Phil Adler showed up when he screwed them out of the profits for the first movie.

Too bad there is not a blu-ray box set with all of their movies and maybe only 3 got a blu-ray release and they don't air on the cable channels either.

At least the doc is on 4k Steelbook

Yeah, Adler didn't come off well in the movie and it was kind of surprising that he participated. Also kind of surprising that C&C didn't seem to be on bad terms with Adler, either.

Also have to say that Shelby Chong looks she could be Tommy's granddaughter, but she's only about ten years younger than he is, and he's pushing 90! I'm guessing she's had some help, but doesn't seem to have that grotesque plastic surgery that seems to be in favor.

Tommy Chong is a lucky guy for getting a babe like Shelby.

Maybe smoking all that dope reduced those urges for holding grudges and letting Adler be in the doc.
