Favorite cameo apperience in a movie?
Personal favorites are
Sean William Scott in old school and Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller (and many others) in anchorman.

Probably the most effective use of a cameo that I can think of was Marshall McLuhan in Annie Hall.

I was going to say Connery in PRINCE OF THIEVES...that's a fun one.
I also liked Sylvester Stallone in STAYIN' ALIVE; George Lucas in BEVERLY HILLS COP III; and Arnold Schwarzenegger in THE RUNDOWN.

Comedies seem to be the best movies for cameos. I love all of the cameos in Eurotrip, Anchorman, and Zoolander.

3. A brief appearance of a prominent actor, as in a single scene of a motion picture. Also called cameo role.
As much as I'd love to nominate Rupert Everett in Shaekespeare In Love, I think several mentioned cameos are in fact bit parts or smaller roles; I'd never say Vince Vaughn's role in Anchorman could be considered a cameo. Granted, the definition has some leeway.
Anyway...
Tim Booth, of the band James, in Batman Begins.
It works double since he plays a minor Batman villain, Mr. Zsaz, in the film.
Michael Bay, near the beginning of Armageddon.
He casts himself as a rocket scientist. Hmm.
Same film also has Udo Kier as a scary psychologist; must be nice to afford any actor you want... I think that also makes him the only actor to work with both Michael Bay and Werner Herzog.
Irvine Welsh, in Trainspotting.
Funny moment (as "Mikey Forrester"), and useful; I believe Welsh or Danny Boyle mentioned that having the author star in the adaptation means the author can't be unhappy with the movie. Same film also has Keith Allen as a drug dealer, which led me to think at the time that he was referencing Shallow Grave.
Kylie Minogue, in Moulin Rouge.
"I'm the green fairy!"
Matt Damon, in Finding Forrester.
At first, I thought it was an odd moment for a cameo, but Matt sells it.

Chris Cornell of Soundgarden and Audioslave, in Singles. That poor car...

Same film also has the nice use of Kurt Loder and Beavis & Butthead.

Would the flashback ending in Godfather Part II (Sonny, Tessio, etc.) be considered some form o' cameo? I guess not, according to definition. "Character cameos," maybe.
