The Woods
Anyone else looking forward to The Woods? It's Lucky McKee's new movie, who made the awesome May in 2002.
According to bloody-distusting.com The Woods is now only getting a limited release in select cities on 09.16.05. And that's after all the delays and the studios trying to censor it. This movie seems doomed to fail in theaters, like poor May.
Bruce Campbell is supposedly in this movie too, but I don't know how big a role he has.

A limited release according to Variety means anywhere from 11 to 599 theaters. Today it was announced which markets you'll be able to catch the film in, if you don't live in any of these states I guess you'll be waiting for DVD.
The movie will open under the Screen Gems banner in the following markets:
• New York
• LA
• Chicago
• Detroit
• Houston
• Dallas
• San Diego
• Phoenix
• Orlando
• Denver
I hope I don't have to drive out to LA to see this.

Apparently it has been delayed yet again:
Our good buddy Luke over at LYT Rules confirms rumors that Lucky McKee's The Woods would be delayed once again. The new date? Yup, the dreaded TBD- this is ridiculous. The Woods is a psychological horror story that begins when a neglected teenager named Heather (Agnes Bruckner) is dropped off by her parents at a remote all-girls boarding school deep in the forest. Watched over by sinister headmistress Ms. Traverse (Patricia Clarkson) and her staff, Heather is tormented by her classmates and is desperate to go home. But when students start disappearing and she begins to have horrifying visions, Heather realizes things at the school are not what they seem. She only knows there's something out there in the woods - and it won't be letting her leave any time soon.

edit: fixed link so it doesn't go to front page.

DVD Talk Hero
This was put online earlier this year, haven't seen it anywhere on here so what the hell:
Trailer: http://rapidshare.de/files/13837388/woods.avi.html
Looks kinda goofy, but for one reason or another, really entertaining. Some really nice scene setups and lighting too. Despite the 2.5+ year delay since filming completed, I still really want to see this flick, dammit. It's no longer on the 2006 UA slate.

I'll definitely check this out - love the premise and Lucky McKee is excellent at taking something normal and twisting the hell out of it.

The USA DVD release is set for October 3rd. I wish it had a commentary by Lucky (and the crafts food service guy), but then again we are "Lucky" to get anything. Article:
It's too bad we won't be seeing this in theaters... Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced the release of Lucky McKee's horror film The Woods, which tells the story of some strange occurrences that take place in the woods surrounding an all-girls boarding school. DVD Active reports that the disc will be available on the 3rd of October at a retail price of around $24.96 and include both an anamorphic widescreen version at the film's original 2.35:1 aspect ratio and a pan & scan version, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track and optional English and French subtitles.

I saw a trailer for this last year on a DVD I rented and have had this in my queue at Netflix for a long time. I am glad it is finally getting released.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has finally released the full DVD specs for Lucky McKee's (May) long-delayed follow-up The Woods, which hits retailers on October 3rd. Agnes Bruckner, Patricia Clarkson and cult icon Bruce Campbell star in this frightening horror film about a neglected teenage girl who is sent away to an all-girls private school located deep in the middle of a forest where things are not what they seem. Davis DVD reports that the DVD arrives with both 2.35:1 anamorphic and fullscreen transfers and Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. Bonus materials will include audio commentary with McKee and the cast, deleted scenes, outtakes, "Girl vs. Girl" & "Legend on Set: Bruce Campbell" featurettes and trailers. Retail price is $24.96.

It turns out that none of those special features will be on the DVD. According to Fangoria, it's bare bones, and Sony is saying that they never officially announced those features as actually being on the disc.
