I think since Fight Club (which was the first movie with opening credits like that that I've seen), it's been copied a bit too much: human genes in X-men (and maybe X2? I can't remember) and SPider Man. It was cool in fight club, but I think it may be getting worn out.
I think I remember Daredevil's opening creds being cool, but it's been a while since I've seen that one, too. |
The Pink Panther.
Birth place of the animated Pink Panther. |
Star Wars is my first choice.
Also I want to mention The Usual Suspects (because it's so spooky). And Drop Dead Fred (because it's in crayon). |
I think "Vertigo" has the most memorable title sequence I've ever seen.

But the title of this thread is about "title sequences," not "credit sequences." |

Chalk up another one for Panic Room. I liked the credit sequence better than the movie.

Spartacus - another incredible Saul Bass effortc.
My favorite of all time: The Wild Bunch William Holden - "If they move, kill'em!" -- then a freeze frame with "DIRECTED BY SAM PECKINPAH" Classic! I also have to add the end credits of The Masque of the Red Death (Roger Corman version from the 60s) which has a truly great (IMHO) animated end credit sequence. Very much in the spirit of Bass, and I've never read a single word about it; I enjoyed this sequence more than the movie itself (which I did like). Here's a description: Spoiler:
Just terrific. |
more titles designed by Saul Bass... [link]

Hostage(Bruce Willis) is pretty good.
Don't know who designed it though. |
another  for Pink Panther.
|
Other than Superman, the other first one to come to my mind, although not the best, is Christmas Vacation :)
