And the trailer does absoultetly nothing for me.

It does look like Resident Evil. Normally I'd skip this totally but if the reviews are decent I might wait til DVD.

looks good, but one thing I'm really getting sick of is that blood curdling scream they have at the end of the trailer (right after the guy says "sir are you ok?"). it's in like every bad action movie and video game.

That's the first thing I thought after seeing the trailer, that damn annoying scream. It was also used in Broken Arrow when Howie Long's character is thrown off the bridge towards the end and at the begining of some cartoon monster show that was on Nicolodeon.

The trailer kind of gave me an Aliens vibe, just the whole marines going to a planet to save people but being outnumbered by, you guessed it, Aliens...

I guess I'll watch it. looks a little cheesy. But atleast the whole movie isn't dark and people may actually be able to use a flash light and a gun at the same time.

I think sound people try to fit it in as a joke now more than anything.

Looks awful, but I'm sure it'll make money.

Saw this in HD on HDNet today. Looks pretty good, even more so than the Resident Evil trailers. Should be a good, mindless, blow shit up kind of movie.

rated r for strong violence/gore and language

Looks ... sufficent. Can't really say much more yet.

I just hope that some actioneer wit, or interesting characters are there. The trailer makes it look very ... bland.

Actually, if it weren't for The Rock's track record, I probably wouldn't even watch it. But he seems to pick really cool movies (save Be Cool) to work on.

That scream first appeared in Doom (the original video game)... I hadn't heard it before hearing it in the game - then started seeing it in movies all the time. I think it's annoying, but I would've been upset if they left it out of this film.

Yeah, the only scream I hate more is the Wilhelm (I don't remember if that's how it's spelled).

The trailer looks decent but I see that the monsters aren't going to be demons. Doesn't surprise my as Ewen Bremmer's comments on the subject seemed a bit cagey.

My hatred for the actual scream asside, I've never so much as heard of this album before. What kind of music do they play?

It's kinetic melodic punk rock - similar to Avail or Hot Water Music, only faster.

The first person view looks kind of neat.

It may not be great, but it might just be good enough.

i hope they don't use too much first person footage. playing an FPS is much different than watching one. when you play, your eyes, hands, and thoughts are mostly all in sync which is why you don't get motion sickness when you play for an extended amount of time. When it's a giant screen and the movement/camera is flicking around, your eyes are trying to keep up and things turn out real bad.

Good point. Sounds similiar to what happened to a lot of people during the Blair Witch Project.

i heard the fps was only during one scene but it's rather long (like 6-8 minutes); using it sparingly throughout would make it old pretty fast because it'd then seem like a recurring gimmick; but to use it well in one short segment i think is pretty cool, and a nice nod to fans; i heard from those who have seen the clip said it's pretty f'ing sweet

the little chainsaw bit we saw at the end was pretty good

no one goes to a "doom" movie for the characterization or the plot; let's get real, we just want to see shit blow up and action and gore. i think this movie will deliver.

unlike the trailer, though, rock is NOT the main character. karl urban's character is but because he's not as famous they obviously don't give him as big of a part in the plot

How many movies have we had based on videogames that have stunk? This one will be no different. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me a hundred times with videogame movies, well, shame on you. Plus, I'm sick of the Rock being shoved down audiences throat. Then again, I can't stand wrestlers who now try and act.

The Rock is different.He can really act.I thought he was very good in Be Cool as a Gay Bodyguard.He was the finest actor there and was very funny.

Terrell has been pretty adament about his distaste for The Rock, so that's not really anything new :)

Although I don't really see how he's been shoved down our throats.

Mindless fun. Sometimes that's alright. I might check it out; October is a little devoided of horror this year except fopr SAW II.
