Which version of Alexander should I watch?

I haven't seen this film. Plan on renting it soon and I want to know which version to rent.

I tend to watch the longer version of a movie if it's available. Usually the director's cut. But what should I do here considering the director's cut is shorter? Although it says on the package that the shorter director's cut has different, more action packed footage that is not on the longer theatrical cut.

Did you read the DVD Talk Review? That might answer some questions.
