Favorite pre-70's decade?

I did the other poll but seeing as how juggernauts 70s, 80s, and 90s got over 75% of the vote i thought it best to have the pre-70s decades polled alone. Just vote for whichever decade has the most of your favorite movies in it.

1880s. It was the Gilded Age after all.

The '50s, mainly because of the Hitchcock material (the '60s PSYCHO and THE BIRDS are my two favorite Hitchcock films, but the '50s had a greater number of his greats) and a few other greats like FORBIDDEN PLANET...

Hmm, but the '60s also had THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE, DR. STRANGELOVE, 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY, EASY RIDER...I might have voted wrong...if it weren't for those damnable Annette Funicello/Frankie Avalon-type beach movies...

I like 40's because my favorite movie is from the 40's. But 50's is a close 2nd.

The 50's

I loved the post-atomic mutant monster movies. Them!, The Blob, The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms. Good times...

Also it should be noted that 1958 brought us Ed Wood's Plan 9 from Outer Space

T'was the prime of Kurosawa, Hitchcock, Holden, Stewart, Brando, golden age of classic scifi, russo-finnish fantasy.
