How much time progresses through each film?
I have seen alot of discussions about this that always end up with time lines like days / hours, etc. In Ep III, travelling across the universe seems to take no time at all... Obi wan and Padme get there before Anakin is finished. I Empire, Luke goes to Dagobah and the rest go to cloud city. Many people view that the time in cloud city was says/hours; but Luke developed quite a bit as a Jedi during that time; which would indicate the travel time between planets would be weeks/ onths or that they were on Bespin MUCH longer than indicated and Vader is EXTREMELY patient as "He arrived shortly before you did."

Just off the wall guessing.
ANH-Several days at the most. Droids are only with Luke for one night until they find Ben and they leave that same day.
ESB-This one confusses me. They're only on Hoth for a few days at the beginning of the movie. I'm assuming that the Falcon is on the run for several weeks while Luke is training. Boba reache cloud city before them because he has a working Hyperdrive at the time. I'd say Luke and Han/Leia are seperated for a month before Luke decides to go to Cloud City. I'd say the whole movie takes place in 6 weeks.
ROJ-The whole Jabba affair I think takes 2 weeks. Luke goes to see Yoda but he's only there for a few hours so it's probably only a couple of days until he meets back up with the fleet. Endor and the Death Star I think takes about a week so that would put the total time of the movie up to 3 1/2 -4 weeks.
I haven't seen the PT enough times yet to guess at the time frame although from the look of Padme it takes 5 or more months from the time she tells Anakin she pregnant until the end.

It would be cool to have some EU that covers these "unknown time periods". I am hoping we get at least one book that covers Obi-Wan and his looking after Luke on Tatooine between ROTS and ANH.
It would be interesting if the trip to Mos Eisley took a day or two; I can imagine Luke and Obi-Wan camping out and Luke stumbling upon Obi-Wan meditating or talking to Qui-Gon Jinn.

There's a comic collection that came out about the time of Ep 3's release that has a bunch of short stories with all kinds of art styles.
One of them has Obiwan watching over Luke on Tatooine and

So, overall, the answer is that Empire just screws up everything.
If you look at the Galaxy maps that are plastered in all the books and all over the net, you will see that Bespin and Hoth are VERY close together (bottom left, 1 planet between them) and Dagobah is about mid way to the center to the right of them. Did the Millenium falcoln float around that close to the invading force and then go to Bespin(unlikely)? Did they fly away and then come back (even less likely). And Luke gets to Bespin in what seems to be hours - he arrives in the middle of everything. If it was all in the future for Luke to begin with how long are we to believe the Empire waited around Bespin before revealing themselves? It seems that they are on Bespin for a few hours to maybe a day. While the falcoln did not have lightspeed ability, they did have engines. How long would it take them to get between planets. A trip to Mars would take 260 days. Boba Fett would not likely have followed them that long; but maybe that is the answer... they floated in Empire occupied space for about a year and a half while Luke was training...

If they were on the Falcon for years, surely they would've changed clothes. Leis was in a snowsuit.

It would help explain the love she has for Han, a year for it to really mature and blossom enough to risk your life and the life of your friends to get him unfrozen. But the clothing does throw it off, although maybe the heat is not so great in space for over a year on that bucket.

That relationship had been smoldering for three years at that point. But certainly being stuck together for even a few weeks would be enough to kindle the fire.
Anyways, I've been letting this simmer in my mind, and I kept going back to speed. If the Millenium Falcon was doing a lot of sublight maneuvers, and if they were approaching the speed of light, then wouldn't relativity come into play? They would spend what only seemed like a few weeks or so, but for Luke it could have been months or a year. This explains the crew on the Falcon having enough rations to live, and Luke getting good enough to hold up against Vader. (I can't even call it a draw, he was slapped so bad, but he did "walk" away, so not a total loss).
Now, at some point the Falcon had to have made some sort of hyperdrive jump. The most obvious is while riding a Star Destroyer. To explain Han's comment about the garbage: well, I can't, but Han is always spouting off about something. The other alternative is a backup hyperdrive, or they got the hyperdrive to work a little, which really doesn't seem likely considering it's past performance.
I hate obsessing over this kind of stuff in Star Wars, it's ok in Trek because it's supposed to be based on our world, but Star Wars is something else. I can accept lightsabers and nearsighted stormtroopers, but Bespin/Degobah thing just irks me. I almost wish Lucas would commission someone to figure it out that would make sense scientifically and storywise. There's gotta be someone who can figure it out.
