New version of THE OMEN coming

John Moore ("Behind Enemy Lines", "Flight of the Phoenix") has been set by 20th Century Fox to helm a remake of the 1976 horror classic "The Omen" about the arrival of the Antichrist in the home of an unsuspecting family says Variety.

Richard Donner directed the original, which starred Gregory Peck as an ambassador whose dark secret --allowing a baby to be substituted for the one his wife (Lee Remick) lost in childbirth -- comes back to haunt him when the hellish prodigal son begins to hit his evil stride.

Dan McDermott is writing a script that contemporizes the tale. Project is on a fast track, as the studio has set a tentative October 3rd start date.

You know, I just recently read the original book by David Seltzer, and am about to re-watch the DVD - now I come across this news. I'm not enthused. The 1976 version is perfect.

I love the original, but perhaps they could go the route of Omen 4 and make it a completely new story and not necessarily a remake.

Let it star Dakota Fanning, she is the anti-christ isn't she? If not, she's at least fucking creepy as hell.

if they're gonna remake anything, they should remake the 3rd movie that had Damien as an adult (Sam Neill). Neill was good, but the story stunk.

Maybe you missed the bridge scene with the Beagles of Satan.
Or the dude getting a hot iron right in the puss. Sweet!

I surmised the movie industry is running out of original storylines, and they are endeavoring to decimate the classics.

Movie industry is running out of ideas, the same way music has turned to sampling old music into new songs. Man & this generation has reached it's peak.
Maybe this is something they should include in the new OMEN remake.
LEFT BEHIND & THE OMEGA CODE movies did a good job in presenting the Anti-christ.

It's not so much a lack of new ideas as opposed to a lack of willing to take a chance on new material.

Sweet! At this rate I'll never have to step into a movie theater or rental store again, I've already seen every new film released after 2002. More money for the noir collection and booze. Keep up the good work bozos!
