There was a silent movie in the 1920's that inspired The Joker.
The actor in that movie had a devlish grin.
Now that's what they should look for, someone who with just the white make-up would make the actor already look like The Joker. No need for the phony jawline that looked fake on Jack in BATMAN (1989). More like the 60's t.v. BATMAN where the actor's acting would showcase the performance. The 60's t.v. Joker had a cool wicked laugh where as Jack Nickelson's was well, damn I can't even remember it.

I would say Joke is less than 200 pounds. He has a tall lanky build. That's why I always giggle when I see Jack's "Fat Joker" from the 89 film. Bats is around 6'3 225 or so and all of it muscle.

I've seen Liam Neeson on Conan's show and he's a few inches taller than Conan. They even joked about it together after they sat down. Neeson towers over Bale based on how they shot them in "Begins". According to imdb Bale is 6'2 and Neeson is 6'4.

Well if this thread has taught me anything, there are a lot of people who could be good Jokers. Quite surprising actually, he seems like a character that would be very specific to do.

I have to agree with that assesment. Though others have made inspired suggestions as well.

ok I just looked it up, and I was close the Joker is 6'5 195lbs, which eliminated Crispin Glover, Adrien Brody, and really gets rid of Johnny Depp, and all other people mentioned besides Conan who isnt an actor, I did a little research and I don't but how about Tim Robbins, he's 6'5 can act, and if he let his hair grow some he could look the role decently possibly. Possibly Jeff Goldblum.

and if the time ever comes, let the rock play Killer Croc

I don't think anyone's really going to care if the joker isn't 6'5", especially not the general public. I'd much rather see Crispin Glover do a joker than Conan O'brien.

I think that Glover will get the part if Lachy Hulme hasn't already got it, since it seems like Bale was chosen at least partly because fans spoke out, which is what seems to be happening with Glover.

whats the point, if your not going to fix the joker then it defeats the purpose of the movie, that was the problem with the first batman movie, the joker and batman were both the same height, where joker is supposed to be well over batman in height, Glover would make Joker shorter then Batman

What's the point of correctly portraying the physicality of a fictional character by confining him to the laws of the comic book world when they don't exist in the real world? Wouldn't you rather have a great story, directing, acting, as opposed to making sure they exactly resemble what the comic book character is supposed to be? If that were the case, then everyone should be up in arms about organic shooters.

As long as they're not casting a midget Joker to combat Batman, I really don't care that he's to scale. Beside, how many different incarnations of a comic book character have been drawn? There's no rule saying they HAVE to be a certain height. Yeah, I know there are comic compendiums and character catalogues, but that's a basis for a guideline that doesn't need to be strictly adhered to.

Height and weight doesn't really matter for the Joker, as I don't think many people would recognize how tall the Joker is supposed to be compared to Batman. I would prefer him to be lanky, but again I don't think it matters a whole lot.

Easiest example, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.

Chance of Crispin Glover being the Joker?

0%

The guy is blackballed from Hollywood because he's such a nutjob.

I was talking about this topic with my wife after watching the movie yesterday. Here are some choices we came up with for possible sequels, along with some great picks that have already been posted.

Joker: Johnny Depp, Giovanni Ribisi, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Slater
Riddler: Kevin Spacey, Ryan Reynolds
Penguin: James Gandolfini, John Goodman, Robbie Coltrane
Two Face: Clive Owen, Guy Pearce
Robin: Elijah Wood, Haley Joel Osment, Orlando Bloom
Poison Ivy: Scarlett Johansson, Alicia Witt

That would explain his presence in the Charlie's Angels films, which are about as mainstream as it gets (even more so than Batman Begins).

these are some odd picks. i MUCH prefer a devito sized penguin to a goodman sized penguin. and enough with the scarlett love. spacey as the riddler???

people's sequel complaints aside, some of the villain picks were pretty good.

if i were crispin, i'd put that on my resume for this film.

casting agent: why would you make for a good joker?
crispin glover: because i'm a nutjob. because I AM the joker.

I believe Dennis Hopper said a very similar line when he was up for the part of Frank in Blue Velvet. I think everyone agrees he was perfectly cast.

Which is actually why he'd be the most ideal choice for the role. He's already a little bit kookoo.

the price of being counterculture = perception of being nuts.

someone should dig up the onion interview he gave.
