... and a gazillion others, plus TV phenoms like Lost and Battlestar Galactica. Oh, yeah, and funny books too!

Any guesses for this year? (July 14-17th!) They should be teasing us with official headliners soon! I noticed Bruce Campbell will be there stumping for his new book.

I'm really looking forward to covering this mind-boggling pop-culture conclave again. In fact, I think fellow DVDTalker Holly Ordway will have her hobbit-lovin' boots on the ground too!

Also, here's last year's thread.

Jackskeleton 05-31-05 08:21 PM

Ghost rider will be a big item. Serenity will get another push.

Might be a good time for a King Kong Teaser to make an appearance.

Jackskeleton 05-31-05 09:21 PM

I'm sure you'll get a Video diary from X3 with the cast saying "Yeah, we're having a blast filming without a director!"

Chronicles of Narnia, maybe?

TomOpus 05-31-05 11:27 PM

Yep, should be another great time. I always like the surprise visits (usually during the studio showcases).

For those Star Wars collectors, I saw on SideShow's website that they're going to make the announcement for the first 1:1 bust at Comic-Con.

Oh, a word of warning: The Padres playing at home Thu-Sun. All night games except for Sunday.... so things might be busy downtown when the Con is letting out.

Jackskeleton 05-31-05 11:53 PM

hmmm, i might try to catch a game since i havn't been to petco park... wearing a dodger cap of course. ;)

bluntman72 06-01-05 12:01 AM

cant wait for the Con but since I usually set up a table there I dont get to attend many of the events.

RayChuang 06-01-05 07:54 AM

It will be very interesting to see if Warner Brothers/DC Comics will make any major announcements at SDCC in regards to the now-confirmed Wonder Woman movie that Joss Whedon will direct. If so, a likely announcement will be the person who will play Diana/Wonder Woman, for starters. :)

:)

Zodiac_Speaking 06-02-05 12:57 PM

I don't expect a villain announcement for Spidey 3 yet-maybe '06.

I expect a Ghost Rider push, Serenity push, a Whedon to comment on Wonder Woman and something on Buffyverse.

G. Noel Gross 06-02-05 01:32 PM

Ooo. Superman Returns?

G. Noel Gross 06-20-05 02:17 PM

T-minus 24 days and counting ...

No major headliners announced. (We had nearly 60-days notice on Buffy last year.)

TomOpus 06-20-05 06:36 PM

It's always great when the unannounced show up. This year I'm hoping for Peter Jackson to show up to show a King Kong clip. You know where you'll find me on Saturday :)

fitprod 06-20-05 06:58 PM

Regarding WB, unless their going to hold out for the VSDA Convention at the end of July, they'll probably be whoring the Home Video release of Batman Begins, and possibly HD-DVD.

If you aiming at "geeks" you're aiming at early adopters.

Looks like they will be in town vs the Diamondbacks. It will probably be a very good series. If you are serious, you should look into tickets now. Petco is very close to the convention center.

That would be cool. I'm going to actually attend some comic book panel discussions this time. Last year I spent the entire weekend, shopping, gaming and watching movies. It is the 25th anniversary of the Wolfman/Perez Teen Titans book. I used to love that series. I'm planning to dig them out of my closet and give them a re-read before the con.

From my understanding, Marv isn't able to make it. :( I have some Titans books signed by Perez, and some Vigilatne books signed by Wolfman (just can't get both of their autographs.

I'm not so sure that reaching geeks is the problem. Reaching mainstream audiences is the problem for most films.
