Chewie could have said something like, "Man, we're in deep shit now," which meshes a little more.

Did you think Han Solo had a Jedi training tool on the Falcon by accident? Maybe Chewie was hanging on to some keepsakes from his pal, Yoda.

Actually, the translated dialogue for that scene is "That old man's mad" for Chewie.

See Empire of Dreams on the Trilogy Bonus DVD where they play that scene from a test reel. That's what Mayhew says before it's replaced in voiceover in post production.

I always assumed that Ben brought that aboard. Makes more sense than Yoda taking training gear around with him in a wartime situation, and then leaving it with one of the Wookiees when he left.

Of the myriad of idiotic coincidences in the Star Wars movies, this is one of the few that I bought.

All broken down according to the expanded universe. Here goes....

Chewbacca, after helping Yoda escape, meets Yaddle.(If you do not know who Yaddle is look at the thread about Yoda. Basically Yaddle is an anorexic, Long haired female yoda.) Chewbacca and Yaddle get it on and produce hideously ugly children that are small like Yoda but hairy like Chewbacca.

They decide to retire to Endor and raise their two children, but unknown to Chewbacca is that whenever the offspring come in contact with water after midnight they reproduce themselves. Now after populating a village or so of these wookie rejects, Chewbacca says to hell with everyone. (In wookie this translates to EEEWOKIE, later shortened to Ewok for RoTJ.)

Dead Beat Dad Chewbacca is picked up by Han Solo in a bar drunk and half dead from alcohol poisoning. Solo nurses him back to health and hence the life debt is born. Most people know life debts do not really exist for wookies but Chewbacca has threatened to rip many arms off if they ever tell Solo that.

I might have borrowed from other movies and may not have the story 100% accurate and but everyone gets the jist of it right?

Yep, the only young greedo scene was a fight with anakin and that was cut (it's a deleted scene on the TPM DVD).

Not sure we can assume Chewbacca witnessed anything that could have persuaded him on the existence of the Force...

But even if he did, why do you conclude he would believe in it and defend it's existence? Seems to me that the officer in the meeting with Vader in Ep IV, as an Imperial officer, would have seen and heard enough evidence of the Force to convince him to not be questioning the Force around Vader, but he questioned it anyway...

And even if Chewbacca did believe, why assume he would argue with Han? He might realize it's no use arguing something that has to be seen or felt to be believed...

I assumed hypeiv was referring to the cut scene (on the DVD and in the novel) that involves Greedo. He's mentioned by name.

So why is everyone assuming it's the same Chewbacca? Maybe Chewbacca is just a common Wookie name, like a Tom or a John. OK, back to what you were discussing.

I'm sure that's a sarcastic reply, but in case it isn't
http://www.starwars.com/databank/cha...cca/index.html
notice there's a link for ep3 indicating he was in it, and the ep3 character page shows chewbacca as well

I don't see sarcasm in there. I think it's in jest, though, and pokes a bit at the threads that suggest Anakin wouldn't know Luke was his son because Skywalker is the galactic equivalent of Jones or something like that.

No, there was no sarcasm intended. Just a comment made in fun. I'm sure it's supposed to be the same Chewbacca. But I also believe he was put into Ep3 to satisfy the fanbase and not necessarily originally scripted in Lucas grand vision.

Yep. Want proof? Read the book. Yoda going to the wookie planet took about 3 lines of text in the book.

Well, he's kicking it while Obi is teaching luke about the saber fighting on the falcon. It's really not an issue for him.

Knowing Lucas, he'll probably edit it so that Anakin kicks first.

somewhere this was talked about for....

It always has seemed to me that Chewbacca knew Ben in A new hope... Just the way Alec G. played up against the bar with Chewie. Watch it again and see what you think.
