Dark Side of Oz-Any other recommendations?

We all know about Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon being an album that matches the imagery and dialogue of Wizard of Oz. Whether it's just a coincidence or not, I've always thought this was a cool experiment.

I recently tried this with Kill Bill Vol.1 by using Jimi Hendrix's Are you experienced? and lo and behold, we got some frightening results! Right down to the opening lyrics of "Hey Joe" matching what Bill does to "The Bride", to Deputy Parks driving to the scene of the crime ("Highway Chile") to Elle Driver's walking around the hospital to "Foxy Lady", and finally to some psychadelic, instrumental music set to the anime sequence.

I've heard that another Floyd album, The Wall can be used on Alice in Wonderland and another album (Forgot which one) goes in sync to 2001:A Space Odyssey. Any other picks?

virtually any movie will work with any soundtrack.... it sounds like you are just looking for some trippy movies... Willy Wonka is a good one

nothing to add except that The Wall and Alice in Wonderland is, in my opinion, a far better match than Dark Side of the Moon and Wizard of Oz. Definitely worth the effort. Just remember to skip over Comfortably Numb.

Dark Side of the Rainbow is really neat. The first time I watched it I was stoned, but I've watched it several times since sober and it held up. I never saw much cool with the other sync-ups.

The last act of 2001 (from the title card Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite) matches up with the song Echoes by Pink Floyd (make sure it's the 24 minute album version and not the edited one from the album of the same name). IMHO, this one is the granddaddy of them all, and the one that the strongest argument for it being intentional can be made.

There's also a pretty cool sync of OK Computer with Return of the Jedi, but I haven't worked out the timing for the DVD yet. With the old SE, you start the album right after Leiah says "you have a power I can't understand" to Luke on Endor. Supposedly there's a cool one with Abbey Road and LOTR:FOTR TE, but I haven't tried it yet.

And yes, the Oz and Wonderland ones are pretty cool, but overall I find The Wall too depressing of an album.

Well, true. Trippy movies tend to have the better results.

Thanks for the other picks, guys! Keep 'em coming if you've got anymore. I'd especially like to find some that work on more Star Wars movies.

There's also a pretty cool one with Fantasia (though I've heard there are some timing differences between the VHS and DVD) and Pink Floyd's Meddle album. Program your CD player: 6 1 2 3 4 5 and start playing right as the first lines of animation show up after the screen turns from blue to pink. Bonus coolness:
Spoiler:
in the Sorcerer's Apprentice sequence, as Mickey's chopping the mop he had cast a spell on with an axe, the line "one of these days I'm going to cut you into little pieces" is heard in the track One Of These Days.
After a while it kind of falls apart and I get bored of it, but it's derfinitely worth checking out through the first couple of tracks at least.

I'll work out the timing for the DVD of ROTJ over the weekend for you, you haven't lived until you've seen a lightsaber fight set to Electioneering.

Here's a database you can search by artist and movie title, anyone can contribute though, so a few of them are kind of duff: http://www.synchronicityarkive.com/s...hp?show=search

Cool site! I'm interested in trying out "Appetite for the Hood" and "Crouching Kid".

Just remembered I did the Nightmare Before Christmas/Kid A one too. It got a little too intense for me so I turned it off after about half an hour.

The Psycho/Ummagumma one was kind of cool, too.

But definitely, definitely check the 2001/Echoes one out next.

Just got done with it. Never heard the song before so It was twice the experience! I do have to say that things weren't too interesting in the early going but once
Spoiler:
Bowman entered the surface of the planet
, things really started to match. And then when that vacum sound appeared when
Spoiler:
Bowman was reborn and pushed back into space
, I was just like, "NO WAY!!" That was too perfect. Thanks, again!

I contributed by submitting the Phantom of the Paradise/The Real Thing over at that site. Now THERE'S a great sync right there!! You'll never listen to Epic the same way again! And I found a final act that competes with Echoes/2001, but I'm still trying to time it right.

I recently tried this and would have to agree.

Has anyone played DSOTM to Yellow Submarine? Not a bad combo right there!

Try playing the album "Jesus: Just the Mention Of Your Name" by Jimmy Swaggart synced up with Debbie Does Dallas.
