Starman Question

"Starman" with Bridges and Karen Allen obviously ended leaving a big opening for a sequel. What happened here?

I believe box office receipts crushed any hope of any sequel:

Budget: $24,000,000 (estimated)
Gross: $28,700,000 (USA) HKD 469,160 (Hong Kong)

By the way, I saw this last week at Wal Mart in the $5.50 Bargain Bin.

The tv show starred Robert Hays who came back and found his son, now a teenager and it seemed like they were running, similar to the Fugitive. They were always on the verge of being caught by the Feds(?).

Not a great flick...but as an import, it's a fine dvd. Forget the domestic version.

Just like the movie: Basic Instinct, which left the audience with a cliffhanger ending, and still no one knows that if the character: Catherine Trammell, who was portrayed by: Sharon Stone was actually the murderer. And now thirteen years later, no sequel has not been negotiated as yet.

I'd agree with you if you weren't completely mistaken...this is John Carpenter's masterpiece, as far as I'm concerned...

Actually the sequel has been announced. According to IMDB.com, it is called Basic Instinct 2: Risk Addiction & is currently filming.

Bloody hell I like that line... Good one!

Also my favourite Carpenter film.

I originally imported the US version as it wasn't released here, then I upgraded to the superior R2 version for the commentary (why oh why couldn't they have organised to get Karen Allen in for it).

Then they released the R2 version here in R4, for NZ$10.00 (about $US$7.00)! I paid about 5x times that for the UK R2, not that I'm bitter or anything, just too impaitent I guess.

and I'd agree with you if you weren't completely mistaken. the man made The Thing and Halloween, and you call STARMAN his masterpiece?!?! it has some nice moments, but as a whole it is trite and formulaic and mediocre at best.
