You could show that scene in Rain Man where Raymond is afraid to fly and mentions that only one airline has never had a crash.

The first post mentions Vertigo, which was the only example the thread starter could think of.

Nope, from what I've read Hughes had OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), as did the main character in "As Good as it Gets". OCD isn't a "phobia", as the OP's psych class would probably recognize.

Don't forget Henry SR's fear of rats in The Last Crusade.

I just watched The Experiment this weekend. The main character has claustrophobia, discusses it in his interview, and is then locked in a box.

Ghostbusters - Phasmophobia - The fear of ghosts.
Ben Hur - Leprophobia or Lepraphobia- Fear of leprosy

And just because I thought it was funny as hell when looking at "the phobia list" - " Medorthophobia- Fear of an erect penis."

Not to get into an argument but this is taken from the OC Foundation website about obsessions:

Obsessions are accompanied by uncomfortable feelings, such as fear, disgust, doubt, or a sensation that things have to be done in a way that is "just so."

I'm far from an expert but from what I understand while OCD is a disorder, one of the manifestations of the disorder can be fear... and phobia is an irrational fear.

Anyhoo... no biggie. We can remove As Good as it Gets from the list.

the original poster asked for phobias, which are referred to as "specific phobias" in psychology and psychology...ocd is a separate disorder...both fall under the umbrella of anxiety disorders...

i have a book that references movies for many different psychological conditions...if you still interested, email me: [email protected]

[rodneydangerfield]I can't get any respect around here, I tell ya...
It's tough for me to get a date. All the women I've tried to pick up must have medorthophobia... They all call the cops when I tell 'em I've got an erect penis... Is it hot in here, or is it just me?[/rodneydangerfield]

It's funny seeing this thread topic. I recently helped a friend rewrite his short film script, about a guy who pretends to be afraid of beards in order to take part in a (paying) phobias test. Along the way, he accidentally helps everyone overcome their fears while becoming a wreck himself at the end. I like it.

"So, you're afraid of clowns?"
"Yes. And, to a lesser extent, cars... just one can fit tons of the bastards..."
