Re: Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For (2014) D: Rodriguez/Miller

I stayed at the Hard Rock last weekend and happened to be a few doors down from EW's press room suite. It was so strange constantly seeing celebs coming off the elevator. The other day we waited five minutes for the elevator, and when it finally arrived, Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez were in it. I didn't recognize Frank Miller until I overheard someone talking 300 with him. He looked very different from pictures I have seen. Their entourage took forever to get off and Frank Miller was the last to exit. We expected the last person to hold the elevator door for us, but he let it shut behind him. We had to wait for another elevator for about 5 more minutes and my wife spent the next few days complaining how he was a dick for not holding the door for us.

How bad is this going to be? It comes out in less than a week and I haven't seen any early reviews anywhere

I'm really iffy on this one lately. The more I see of the Nancy story the more I am afraid this thing will suck.

I feel like the window for this to come out closed about 5 years ago. They had teased a sequel forever, and I think at a certain point anticipation turned into frustration, and people lost interest in the process. The buzz I'm feeling is that this is one of those sequels that nobody asked for.

I certainly want(ed) one... 7 or 8 years ago. I'm still going to see this next weekend, but the excitement I had for it waned quite awhile ago.

That's not to say the trailers don't make this look awesome, because they do. It just really took them a long damn time to get this out.

I feel like if this had come out in 2008, a year after 300, this could have done really well. Instead it's coming out after The Spirit and a ton of weird career happenings helped make Frank Miller a lot less appealing.

As am I, but more because of Eva Green, and less because it's another Sin City.

Re: Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For (2014) D: Rodriguez/Miller

Friday is my 5th wedding anniversary. The first film was one of the first that my wife and I watched together when we were dating. We're both taking the day off of work to do a bunch of things, including seeing the sequel. I'm super excited, but like a few here, I'm not getting a good vibe from the trailers at all. Preparing for disappointment...

This is the only reason why I'll see this. Not in theaters of course, I'll wait until the blu is cheap.

I agree with a lot of people who think the sequel is happening way too late and the hype just isn't there anymore. For me I'll see it but I find myself not really caring too much about seeing it even though I really liked the first film. Instead of being super excited for it to me it just feels like another film. Maybe I'll be surprised and it'll be awesome but I'm not really counting on it.

Can't get too excited about Eva Green in this. We already saw every square inch of her body in The Dreamers, and there is no way she'll top that in this movie.

I think from the commercials I've seen her body completely obscured by shadow in a couple of different scenes. Hopefully they don't fuck with us too much with that.

I can't remember if she was like that the whole time while nude in the comic. I think she was.

I just looked at my copy and she is either naked or in that see-thru shirt the entire time.

Of course Nancy is topless throughout the story and we see what we get there. Alba is such a waste for that role.

They fooled me once with Carla Gugino in the first movie. They won't fool me twice with Eva Green in the sequel. I'll wait for this to hit Blu-ray before I check it out.

Wait, how did they fool you with Carla Gugino? She was pretty damn topless in her scenes.

I hope it wasn't a fake out, I jerked off to her hundreds of times in that movie.

I just watched it yesterday, you do see her topless, some are shadow, some are straight forward. I watched the recut version... I don't remember the theatrical.

Eva Green... I would not be surprised we do see actual nudity. She's talked about it openly that she's proud of the nudity in this film. And considering she has not had problem before...

Edit: actually, I take back what I said. My memory told me that she was covered in shadows and weird camera angles the whole time but I just re-watched her scene again and, yeah, she was pretty damn topless. Too bad her scenes didn't last longer.

Yea... I was almost thinking maybe they gave her digital boobs... But that was Alba in the shower in Machete wasn't it?
