Nothing earth-shattering, but it works I guess:

I was hoping for something along the lines of the teaser poster of the first film but... Meh, it gets the point across.

But looking at it more closely, the films subtitle and release date look very tacked on.

(Seriously, don't start with that "first" shit.)

I think the image has been downsized, and distorted a little. The text at the top is messed up looking too, and almost unreadable. Looks like viewing an image in Fireworks at 97% - or the way web graphics look if IE pulls that autosizing pictures to fit the page crap.

Yeah, you're right, cheapskate. Well then, I stand corrected. Still, I hope for a better bit of teaser art soon.

Do they decide on release dates before they even start shooting now?

According to IMDB (yes, I know, not always the most reliable source) simultaneous filming of this and the third film has already begun.

Looks kinda fake to me. Either that or a really crappy job. I could shove a brush and some paint up my ass and shit a better poster.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask for proof.

Well, if that's the real poster, it's interesting to see that Disney have replaced their art department with a 16-year-old, a one-year old PC, and a copy of Photoshop. Bravo to their cost-cutting techniques.

Wait 'til you see what they've done to the effects budget.
Spoiler:
All that Gore Verbinski can afford to use is a pair of sock puppets, a bendy straw, a half empty can of silly string, and a black light.

Spidey 3 already has a release date and they don't have a script yet. It's all about staking out the weekend as yours as soon as possible....getting mindshare,

You try passing a paintbrush and two cans of Sherwin-Williams through your rectum without any anal lacerations.

I think RyoHazuki's ass should do the coverart for the eventual boxset.

Am I the only one who's annoyed that the poster has Bruckheimer's name on it, but not Verbinski's? Sure, one can make the argument that it's marketing, etc., but if they had given credit where it was due all along, then average joes would start recognizing Verbinski's name too. Not to downplay a producer's job, but Bruckheimer's been getting way more credit than he deserves for PotC.

Well Bruckheimer is a very hands on producer. Like it or not, he influences the films he produces almost as much as the director's helming them. Although Gore Verbinski should definitely get credit, Bruckheimer's name should still get top credit.

It's probably also part of his deal with Disney that he gets his name on top. Verbinski probably doesn't have that kind of deal, though I bet the eventual ads for this will stress that it is the same director.
