www.showbizdata.com 's numbers have Sin City in third place instead of second, guess it's pretty close.

It may have been. Numbers were taken from Box Office Mojo.

Did Danny the Dog / Unleashed get delayed again?

Scotts35 04-09-05 03:21 PM

^ Yeah till May 13th I think.

Artman 04-09-05 03:35 PM

Surprising that Fever Pitch isn't higher... Glad to see Sahara do at least moderately well....should take the wknd with 18-20 million.

TheMadMonk 04-09-05 04:37 PM

Wow, the Pacifier is going to make more than $100 million.

Me too. Is there a way to see the numbers broken down by region? I wonder how much of their total came from the Northeast.

scott shelton 04-10-05 01:17 PM

With only one new release next week, expect PITCH to hang on nicely.

Nobody wants to mention 50% drop for CITY?

I was going to, but didn't think much of it. That's about the drop that was predicted by most, no? Seems to be performing similar to the Kill Bill movies that many have mentioned.

RichC2 04-10-05 02:25 PM

50% drop is pretty normal for R-rated Action/Violence flicks, especially these past few years.

Kill Bill Volume 1 dropped 44%, Kill Bill Volume 2 dropped 58.5%

majorjoe23 04-10-05 02:51 PM

For a comic book movie, a 51% drop is a pretty good sign. Hulk and Elektra dropped 70%, Hellboy and Constantine dropped 60%, Blade III dropped 57% X-Men dropped 53% and X2 dropped 52%.

SinCity 04-10-05 02:59 PM

too bad. i wanted sin city to stay at the top a while longer.

scott shelton 04-10-05 03:05 PM

It wasn't THEE drop I was concerned about, but the fact that it did drop. The film is beloved around here, and I noticed it wasn't brought up yet. As opposed to films everybody hates. Those numbers are given Zapruder-like attention.

Not a big deal. No need to explain history. I get it already.

SinCity 04-10-05 03:36 PM

i guess to average movie goers vin diesel learning how to put diapers on a scrawny little brat is more entertaining than Sin city...

Families can take their children to The Pacifier.
Families cannot take their children to Sin City.

Like it or not, The Pacifier has more of an audience than Sin City.

SinCity 04-10-05 03:48 PM

actually ive seen a few soccer moms bring theyre kids to Sin City....but i guess that didnt make much of a difference at the box office. Im sure Sin City will far outsell Pacifier when they get released on DVD, though.

I wouldn't be too sure of that.

The geek factor vs. the mom factor... It comes out even.

SinCity 04-10-05 03:55 PM

nah. the mom factor basically will bring the kids to the movie when its in the theater, but both her and the kids will probably forget about it until they see it much later in a 2pack with "My Pretty Pony" at Walmart for $5. Sin city appeals more to guys like us, who are addicted to DVDs and spend upwards of $200 on em every month or two. The soccer moms only buy them when they see a movie in the $5 bin, or when theyre kids beg and scream for em, which most wont. Its a crappy flick (or so ive heard)...
