Brett Ratner and the hypocrisy

It is so funny to see DVD Talk gush over Brett Ratner because they finally got a "celebrity" to return their calls and do an interview. If Brett Ratner ever put his name into the Search box on the forums I'm sure he wouldn't be too pleased with the results. Next time I'd recommend DVD Talk not be so hypocritical.

How is DVD Talk being hypocritical again? A Ratner interview on the main page should have nothing to do with what random people on an internet forum think.

Exactly. If someone who had been constantly ragging on him did the interview and kissed his ass, then that would be hypocritical, but it would only make the interviewer hypocritical, not the whole website. In the same vein, the opinions of individual posters do not define the website as a whole, they are only the opinions of the individuals posting them.

Brett Ratner and the Hypocrisy

It does sounds like a great name for a band, though.

DVDTalk has NOTHING to do with what I might say individually. I think it's cool that the site is getting recognition from filmmakers, and those on the inside of the business, not just us geeks who critique them on their every move...

Any man who has the intestinal fortitude to have sex with Serena Williams is worthy of all our admiration.

One thing that cannot be denied though, is that he has been good to DVD (whether you like his films or not). He, along with some other director's, have really taken hold of dvd and supply lots of special features.

IMO, Red Dragon was a good movie.

and not all dvdtalkers dislike Ratner... I actually am a big fan of his work. He makes highly entertaining movies, makes them well and I always have a great time seeing his flicks. I also think The Family Man is a really great movie and Ratner in general has been underrated as a director and somehow got a rep as a hack for hire, when I think he's better than that... end of rant.

I am not a big Ratner fan (after listening to his Rush Hour commentaries, I concluded that the dork factor is very high) but I can't understand what is "hypocritical" about presenting an interview.

I totally agree. You should've interviewed Hitchcock, or Kurosawa.

what the hell is wrong with Brett Ratner? He's a filmmaker, is he not? God forbid we ever interview or feature anyone we all aren't universally in love with.

"Finally"? This site has consistently had celebrity/filmmaker interviews over the years.

Even if you don't like his movies, he still knows more about making movies than any of us.

I guess the site better not interview George Lucas.... the internet would implode from all the hypocrisy.
