Well, she is french so I don't want to defend her, but I didn't like how much Beyonce was involved in the Oscars either.
I mean come on, couldn't she just sing once and then they get someone else?
Also, the fact that JayZ and Puff Daddy were at the Oscars was a joke.

Chris Rock was the host, Beyonce was performing almost all the songs, JayZ was pimpin in the front row, Puff Daddy was presenting. Give me a *****ing break.
Im not racist at all, but lets keep the Academy gangsta free. Its not the freaking grammys.

It just seems like the next step is having rappers invade the academy awards when they really dont have any place there.
Dont get me wrong, I thought Chris Rock did a fine job. Not my favorite, but he did ok.
The whole thing just seemed like a poor attempt to attract the black audience. I bet even his pre-oscar joke about how black men dont watch the oscars was planned.

Either way, the awards did so many things wrong, they could learn a lot from this one years pile of crap. They won't though and they'll continue to get it wrong for years to come.
Personally, I do not watch the Oscars for the host, music acts or who is presenting (they can make it more enjoyable though). I watch it for the actual awards. But, I guess those of us who watch it for that reason are few.

As an African-American woman who has been watching the Oscars since I was a kid and attends Oscar parties with all African-American attendees each year (well before the likes of the great Morgan Freeman was nominated) I just don't think it necessary.
I think the front row business was just too much. People who are actually in the movie business should be up there.

Due to the lackluster performance of the top films this year, they obviously panicked and didnt want soft ratings. They tried to boost them and I dont think it worked.
On a side note, I was really glad to see Morgan win this year. He is one of my favorite actors and it was well deserved.

We speak French where I live and everybody was laughing their asses off when Beyonce sang that one at the Oscar party. To us, it sounded like she had a hot potato in her mouth. So I kind of get what Delpy means. Anyway, like the OP said, that part of the show pretty much always sucks.
