My four year old(soon to be five) absolutely loves all of the films. So I guess, 4 or 5 would be a good enough age to start him off properly!

Good call on the prohibition of "prequel trilogy" I too agree its not Star Wars films and to be treated differently. As for the age recommendation I would say - after 10 years old? Personally I watched it at 11 and had no idea what some of the scenes meant.

A friend of mine watched it(OT) with his daughter last Sept. She was 7 at the time and fell in love with them. She even wanted to be Princess Leia for Halloween. Now she is looking forward to Ep. 3 more than he is.

I watched Empire with my 4 month old daughter. Needless to say she wasn't paying all that much attention, but for about 15 minutes straight she sat glued. Which part? Yoda on Dagobah. She would also look up everytime R2 talked.

I was 3 when I saw it (1977), and I begged my parents for weeks and months to take me to see it again. They took me to it three or four times, and I still wasn't satisfied. I eventually videotaped it from HBO and watched it over 200 times.

Same exact time frame for me. I saw it in a double feature with Silver Streak at a Drive-In Movie theater that's been closed for 25 years. I know eps 4-6 verbatim. I think you have to give it to them before any other sci-fi flicks cloud their little minds. When ever you do it I'm sure it will be a blast for you too. Enjoy!

I was 6 and saw it at a drive-in with my dad. Awesome. I'll never forget it!

That depends... how many years are you going to wait until you let her see Empire Strikes Back? And are you going to let her sneak out of school early to watch it?
