I think it looks pretty good. Although, Scorsese should've used Bobby D instead of Jack Nicholson.

PopcornTreeCt 07-28-06 05:40 PM

I saw it in front of Miami Vice today. Ehh, I like Jack Nicholson but the rest of the cast looks blah.

Cameron 07-29-06 02:17 AM

most anticipated movie of the year for me

RyoHazuki 07-29-06 03:05 AM

Yikes.

I lost a bunch of interest in this. Replace that fancy cast and Scorsece's name and I wouldn't even have finished watching the trailer. It looks so mediocre. Lets hope its just a bad trailer.

Mr. Cinema 07-29-06 06:00 AM

I thought the trailer looked pretty good. Leo, Jack, Damon, and Scorsese....yep, I'm there opening night.

The Bus 07-29-06 07:01 AM

Oh, this is the Infernal Affairs remake...

Sigh...

smirnoff 07-29-06 07:30 AM

For some reason Jack Nicholson in this role feels more like charity than good casting. I can't say the trailer got me interested in the least. Still, I have some hope.

Shilex 07-29-06 10:58 AM

I thought it was gonna be a loose remake, but the trailer made it look very similar to Infernal Affairs (broken armcast & all). Didn't dig the trailer much either. It was too disjointed & I don't think anyone could get a clear idea about what the plot was from it (except the people that have seen Infernal Affairs). And what was with that terrible Pink Floyd cover song (Comfortably Numb) near the end.

I liked the trailer, but agree...that remake was pretty bad...

Terrell 07-29-06 12:08 PM

Jesus Scorsese, do us all a favor and get over your obssession with Leo Dicaprio. Looks like he's starting to get one with Alec Baldwin as well.

About the only thing I liked in the trailer was Jack Nicholson.

Doughboy 07-29-06 12:13 PM

Looks like a pretty faithful remake of Infernal Affairs. But it doesn't look like it's gonna be very good.

It was Van Morrison and Roger Waters from The Wall: Live in Berlin album

gryffinmaster 07-29-06 02:06 PM

You know, I've never been a huge Scorses fan ... but that actually grabbed my attention. Looks pretty good. Jack looks like a GREAT choice for the boss.

fryinpan1 07-29-06 03:09 PM

This looks like another movie that will not get Scorsese the Oscar.

DVDho78DTS 07-29-06 03:31 PM

Looks like a great cast for a mediocre movie. Hopefully it proves me wrong.

Which is sad as they most likely chose their release date (December, surprise!) with that in mind. Just give him an honorary one and let him go about his way.
It looks okay, but Jack Nicholson has become such a comedic persona that any character he plays just comes across as unintentionally funny, in spite of the role supposing to be serious.

EDIT: Oops! Seems it's October. Bet it will change!

PopcornTreeCt 07-29-06 10:47 PM

The trailer reminded me of Ocean's 11-esque - one big inside joke that I'm not in on.

He was HILARIOUS in The Pledge. Check it out. A laugh riot.

Trailer looks really good. And Dicaprio, for once, doesn't seem to look out of place in an "adult" role.

I love that PF cover. Van Morrison can do no wrong, imo - and it seemed somewhat of a nod to The Last Waltz.

cleaver 08-01-06 10:34 AM

Is anyone else scared that (this is a big time spoiler)
Spoiler:
they'll Hollywood up the ending? Because I don't think the eastern version of eternal hell will resonate with American audiences. And it seems like Anthony Anderson is playing the fat kid who says you can pick out a cop because he's watching you while pretending to do something else, is Markie Mark playing the guy who shoots the hero at the end? And who is Alec Baldwin?

LorenzoL 08-01-06 10:38 AM

I thought the trailer was average at best plus having seen Infernal Affairs, I'm not looking forward to this remake.

BTW, WB turned down an invite to screen this movie during the Toronto International Film Festival in September.

Egon's Ghost 08-01-06 11:17 AM

A lot of Negative Nellies here... I haven't seen the trailer, but I think it's a great cast, and even though Scorsese's best work is behind him, he's one of our best.

clemente 08-01-06 06:33 PM

I loved Infernal Affairs and while I'm not opposed to the idea of the remake (okay, maybe a little), what I think smells like a bad move from a mile away is the seemingly increased role for
Spoiler:
the psychiatrist
.

It smacks of Hollywood, its not necessary.

RichC2 08-01-06 06:45 PM

The original wasn't a particularly well made movie (still absolutely hate the way the first 30 minutes are handled), though it had a few nice plot touches. This looks the same, which is odd since it's Scorsese. We'll see.

slop101 08-01-06 09:06 PM

Looks like Scorsese's doing a genre type film kinda like Cape Fear, and not unlike the old gangster pictures he likes so much. Since he copped to never having seen Infernal Affairs, I'm sure this movie's more of a remake/homage to those old '30s/'40s crime films he grew up on.

GoldenJCJ 08-01-06 09:44 PM

I haven't seen the original but I thought that trailer was pretty good...wasn't a big fan of that music they played over it but that's certainly not gunna stop me from being enthused about the movie.

Matt Damon
Leonardo DiCaprio
Jack Nicholson
Mark Wahlberg
Martin Sheen
Martin Scorsese

I am SOOO there!!
