He was excellent in Boogie Nights, The Italian Job, and The Basketball Diaries, Three Kings and I Heart Huckabees. He was decent in Fear and The Yards.
For all of the films above (well maybe not Fear) the scripts were what made the movie. They gave Wahlberg the chance to be dramatic, funny, etc. etc. I think if he had a one man show and given the right script he could do it.
The rest of that tripe he has been in have all had horrible scripts that render no actor to be good or great for that matter.
I think you have Boogie Nights on the brain with all of Anderson's actor friends in it and don't recall Wahlberg being in anything else.
Don't forget: a movie always starts with a script.

I thought his acting in The Italian Job was awfully bland, since you mention. That's his main problem - he's so terribly bland in so many of his films. The man has trouble conveying any sense of emotion or feeling. I look forward to seeing I Heart Huckabees, he looks interesting in that - which is more than I can say for many films I've seen him in.

I would love to see you act in a film so I can laugh it up.

"Infernal Affairs is currently slated for a September 17th release here in North America." According to a blog from last year, for what that's worth..

Since Marty didn't get an Oscar this year either, I am going to make the call that they will wind up with a December 2006 release date for this project, which I think should have the working title: "Gangs of New York: Plan C".

So is this still being made?
I recently saw the original and it's nothing short of perfection. It's actually dethrowned Heat as my favourite crime drama. I really like DiCaprio as an actor but don't really picture him in either role (though I assume he's up for the Tony Leung role) if the remake is made. Still, with Scorsese at the helm it'll be interesting if nothing else.

Interesting. Just saw in IMDB that they changed the title to The Departed and that Matt Damon is in the Andy Lau role. I doubt it'll be as good as Infernal Affairs but I just may go see it regardless.

Remake of infernial affairs, which was incredible. Not digging the trailer though, wish it was a period piece or something else, and their accents are horrid.
This is a really stupid question, but whats the song they play at the beginning of the trailer? I know its a popular song, i just cant place it.

It's Rolling Stones "Gimme Shelter."
I liked it better when the film was called "Infernal Affairs."
Maybe the trailer would've been better without the shitty Irish music (this doesn't look like The Boondock Saints damnit) and no narration from a jackass ET reporter.
