Another sequel to Romancing the Stone...BUT...

ROMANCING STONE SEQUEL: Michael Douglas is reportedly set to star in and produce a third Romancing the Stone film — sans Kathleen Turner. Titled Racing the Monsoon, the flick would be set in India and revolve around a diamond robbery. Reports say Douglas is hoping to snag one of India's most renowned actresses, Miss World Aishwarya Rai, to succeed Turner as his love interest.
Yeah, good one Mike. Not that I don't think Aishwarya is extremely gorgeous, but why don't you stick to your own age group for this go 'round. Especially considering Kathy was in the first two.

Schmuck.

I think I know MD's motivation:

Kathleen Turner - born 1954
Aishwarya Rai - born 1973

And there it is. The sequel wouldn't be the same without KT, but hooray for Hollywood!

Will Danny Devito be in it? Wasn't he in the first two?

Why doesn't he just cast his wife in the role?

I may be in the minority, but I'd like to see Douglas reprise his role of Jack Colton.

Jewel of the Nile. It was pretty poor, despite bringing everybody back.

Everyone except the writer and director, which may have been part of the problem.

I saw the press release about this film...but I'm PRETTY sure it's not affiliated with the Romancing The Stone series at all. There at one time was going to be a third one entitled "THE CRIMSON EAGLE" but Douglas, Turner and DeVito decided to film The War of the Roses together instead.

This Yahoo article confrims that this movie is NOT a sequel:

And to complete this recipe for disaster:

The film will be directed by Steven Carr, who shot "Daddy Daycare" and "Doctor Doolittle 2."

Boooo! Horrible idea! If you need to make a sequel without Turner, dont do it. Just get Turner and give her a trailer for about 3 months.

There would be no point at all in making a sequel to this series without Kathleen and Michael. But quite frankly, while I suppose I could see Michael still in the role, Kathleen, well, I couldn't see her successfully playing Joan Wilder anymore.

I wouldn't mind seeing Michael Douglas in another movie already, but don't try and make a sequel to this. This series has always thrived based on the relationship of the those two characters, and I'm afraid that any possibility of them recapturing that is pretty much gone. Leave well enough alone, and hopefully it's just Michael makign a return to an action adventure type of role. In which case, I'd welcome it if it's a good movie.

Michael Douglas should get Michelle Marcoux to be his new leading lady, she's only 23, she's a natural blonde, and she's beautiful.

Turner circa 1984 - 140lbs

Prednisone will do that. She's gotten off it recently.

I remember how people mocked Jerry Lewis on the Forum not that long ago. Of course, he was also taking prednisone. He also has gotten off and is reported to have lost a lot of weight.
