Universal screwed up the film's chances by releasing it in the Summer. This boxing movie would have played better during the Fall season. Had they done that, it probably would have scored more nominations and possibly a Picture one. People forgot about this movie. Giamatti deserves his nomination and I hope he wins, but part of that reward is the Academy's way of saying "we're sorry" for snubbing him last year.

What's worse was this was the film they were banking on to bring home the gold. And they completely mishandled the release.
