Help in identifying this movie

This is for a friend of mine who can't remember the title of a movie. I figured this forum would be the best place to ask, you guys seem to know all..

What she recalls:
- Plot involved a deaf or blind woman, who somehow witnessers a murder(?) on a movie set. She then becomes the target of the killer.
- Was probably made in the early 90s.
- Was probably either British or Australian (she was pretty sure it was not an American release)
- She remembers some sort of bathtub scene

and that's all she gave me.

It sounded vaguely familiar to me, but then again that plot has been used more than a few times I suppose
Any help is much appreciated!!

hear no evil?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107090/...fc=1;ft=7;fm=1

I remember the trailer, although I didn't see it. I can still hear her say (in the deaf voice) "Operator, I need help!" but the phone is dead or something.

Oh yeah, I see it's got Marlee Matlin, so that would make sense anyway.

If it's got a bathtub scene that sticks out, then it is more likely Jennifer 8 . . . IMDB Link . . . with Uma Thurman.

Blink with Madeline Stowe? I don't remember a movie set, though.

I'm 99% sure it's "Mute Witness" (1994).

Description from guzzlefish...

"Billy is a make-up artist working on a low-budget thriller being made by a group of young Americans in Moscow. She is also mute. One night when she returns to the studio to retrieve some work, she witnesses her fellow production crew shooting a snuff film. Later, they claim the murder was fake, but Billy is not convinced. She doggedly pursues the case while trying to protect her life, which is slowly being drawn deeper into the web of the Russian underworld."

It does have a tense bathtub scene where the killers are trying to break into her apartment.

haha that's what I was thinking. I thought about 'Blink' and 'Hear No Evil', but I don't think either had the movie set aspect so I don't think that's it. 'Mute Witness' sounds like a good bet.. I will ask her tonight and report back. Big thanks to all for your help!

See No Evil (aka Blind Terror) (blind)
The Spiral Staircase (mute)

"Mute Witness" it is! Good job, davejt1. I had actually seen this movie, it's just been many years and it blurred together with too many others I suppose.

Thanks again for everybodys help. I knew you guys wouldn't let me down

Just go to imdb.com, pull down the menu to select a search by "plot," and type in deaf, blind, etc. I just tried this out of curiosity myself and was amazed by how many there actually were (of course, because of the nature of the keyword search, the blind/deaf part was not really integral to the story, so the numbers are a bit misleading).

Oh, and you're welcome Geminix! I rarely get a chance to help people out with these - it's either a film I have never heard of in my life or one that's so easy to guess that dozens of people on this board beat me to it. Fortunately, this was one that I saw a few months ago.
