Help me with Criterions..
I would like to know, which criterions i should get, i only have one. The criterion i own is seven samurai, i want to start collecting these but dont know which i should buy. I did a search for "criterions", but it didnt tell me what kind of film it was so i dont know if it would be my taste..
I like Action/drama films, so which would be good for that taste? I Also like japanese action like "the killer" so what others are like this?? I also seen the criterion idk what it was called something about a dog and hes like a kid growing up its a swedeish film. So i liked that one.... So what should i get i have no idea or don't really know anything about criterions.. so can someone point me in the right direction please.

you're sure probably going to got quite a lot of posts as the subject of "criterion" is quite popular among many dvd talkers. First off, that Swedish film you were talking about is probably "My Life as a Dog." As far as some recommendations, based on what you told me, here are some titles I think you should check out. If you can, netflix these titles first and then buy them if you really like them. Not all criterion movies are for everyone as they encompass such a large range of genres and styles. Also, check out their main site (www.criterionco.com) to get a description of every movie in their collection, so you can start from there as well. Here are some recommendations:
Any Kurosawa title, particularly the other samurai ones
Sanjuro, Yojimbo, The Hidden Fortress, Throne of Blood
The Samurai Trilogy
Some of my favorite criterion flilms
The Killers
Spartacus
All the Hitchcock titles
Hard Boiled
The Vanishing
Straw Dogs
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Brazil
Sullivan's Travels
There's so much more to list, so do yourself a favor and go check out the site and netflix.

Safe to say anything by Kurosawa.
A couple of 60's Japanese Yakuza films by Seijun Suzuki that are a bit on the quirky side:
Branded to Kill
Tokyo Drifter
If you're really adventurous, check out some other Asian offerings:
In the Mood for Love
Tokyo Story
Onibaba
Bizarre:
Insomnia
Brazil
The Element of Crime
The Vanishing
Picnic at Hanging Rock
Videodrome
